You guys wouldent use a 250 the way I hunt all of you hunt in mostly open woods, feilds and you ussally dont have to rush a shot so you can take your time.Where I Hunt i mostly track and shoot at them running so the is a place for error and the bigger bullet helps alot OP said for kids. I wouldnt take kids huntin chasing running game. Your response was dumb. How many deer have you seen killed by sub 308 cals?

PM Jeff O, it will take a bucket of cold water to separate the two of you soon.Yep, 250, albeit AI version thereof Turpentine is more effective. Scott, That Blue McSwirly sure stands out against the creature nicely. Is that why you chose that colour, or was it to match the blue tape on the barrel?

Kbruce, Don't worry about the .250 I've killed way more deer, antelope and hogs with it than any other caliber. Ranges have been from 25-250 yards, and its a lightning bolt. That said the last few years I've been doing the same thing with the little .223 Rem, ranges have been 25-150ish yards with the same results. I don't even use the 223 AI, the plain one works fine...
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

I'm a member of several shooting forums and this is by far the most hostile of them all . This is also the only forum where I have ever blocked anyone . When objectivity leaves and personal attacks ensue , mayhem is the result . When one of the combatants has just 33 posts , he must be here just to fight ! Christ , if you guys were all in the same bar they'd have to hose the blood off the floor , and for what ?

Christ , if you guys were all in the same bar they'd have to hose the blood off the floor , and for what ? It's pretty realistic around here for the most part. This is a good thing IMHO. If you don't like it, don't come here? A kid asks a question with his mind already made up, didn't like the answers he received, and turned smartaleck after not liking a few blunt answers. Objectivity was there at the very beginning. The original poster didn't have any to begin with.

That is the very attitude I'm talking about ! "If you don't like it don't come here " A wise man speaks because he has something to say , a fool speaks because he has to say something .

A bad attitude never helps you anymore than playing with a toaster in the bathtub....
If you want good advice from people who have been hunting longer than the people who got you here then listen twice and speak once....
If you cant kill it with a 250 then a 308 is not going to do any better.. Unless your hunting things that eat you load up a quality bullet and practice...

Christ , if you guys were all in the same bar they'd have to hose the blood off the floor , and for what ? Fun? Camaraderie? George
