Question for anyone who has a 260 700 Ti or 700 Mountain Rifle with Remington's 22" 1:9" twist barrel...

What have been your best combinations in bullets/powders for accuracy?

I've been playing with 140 grain corelokts and 130 Sciroccos in combination with IMR 4350 and 7828 and not having much luck with groups @ 1.5-2". Thus far none of my handloads have done any better than factory Fusion 120's @ 1-1.5".

I'm not opposed to loading 100-125 grain bullets in Partitions, or other good bullets if they seem to do better in these 1:9" barrels. Just curious to see where other have found their success with these factory barrels.

Thanks!

How about a M700 SS BDL DM with 24" 1/9" twist?

Mine likes 129gr Hornady SPs over R19 with Remington 9.5 primers or either R19 or H4831SC under 140gr Ballistic Tips. Both bullets will go 1 MOA or better for 5 rds with these powders

120 NBT in mine and I'll have to look up the powder.

lundtroller,
I have two Ti's (708 & .270) and a light wt. restocked M7 in .260..
I had fairly crappy groups off the bench for month's until I someone posted a thread here asking how to shot lwts. off the bench..
Basically I shot off a rolled up towel as per John Barness's advice on that thread so the rifle doesn't bounce as much and employ a relaxed concentration on the shot..
A lightly adjusted factory trigger really helps also..

47grs of R-19 under a 120 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip or a 130 grain Berger VLD shoot great out of my Rem LSS. Fought with the 140 grain Partitions, Bergers, and Accubonds but the 1:9 twist didnt seem to care for them. I may go back and try the 125 Partitions and 130 grain Accubonds. LW rifles take a little practice in shooting form.

Thanks for a few things to try!

I hope it is not my shooting technique... I've got a little ULA 7mm-08 thats even lighter which I do pretty well with. I did try holding the forend with a gentle grip vs no grip and focusing more on the rear bag. It didn't seem to make much difference.

Maybe the cold had something to do with it. Hunting on a cold day and shooting from a cold, shaded bench are two different things for me!

Will try 100-120 grain cup and cores next, then look for a suitable "premium" in a comparable weight for "special" occasions!

My Browning Low wall has a 9" twist and dotes on 129gr Hornady Interlocks pushed to 2850 or just a hair more by H4831.

Ok I looked it up and I'm using a 120 NBT with 46/H4350 and out of my 22" barrel it's running 2949 fps. And it shoots very well!

Rem brass and CCI 200's
