I am thinking of having a Winchester Model 70 FWT coated. The rifle is set in a Win Tuff Laminated stock cut and checkered exactly like the Walnut FWT stocks. Although I do like the original XTR type bluing, I want to have it Cerakoted.
I am thinking of either going with the SOCOM Blue or Graphite Black with enough hardner in either to give a slight sheen to the texture as opposed to the general matte finish.
Pics would be helpful. What say you..?

Graphite black is popular. Too "black" for me. Here is midnight purple on the left (milky charcoal, smooth texture, kinda cool) and sniper grey on the right. My sniper grey is very matte and has a lot of tooth - it's rough - don't know if that's normal or not. Am interested in trying socom blue for bottom metal on a blued M70. That vs. probably graphite black, for lack of a better match to blued steel.

H238 Midnight Blue was designed for Henry Rifles to mimick a deep blue. I'm restoring a Winchester XTR with it in the next week or two.

Graphite black is the one you can always fall back on to be safe IMO. Always looks good. Some others may look better depending on the rifle but it goes with about anything.

I would go with Titanium color. Eddie F did my Wby Mark V stainless custom 270 Roy in Titanium and it came out great. I just got back my WBY Ultra lt. wt. 30-06 I bought here from Wes 7x57. I sent it to a new guy who posts on here that does Cerakote also. I was REALLY pleased with his work on my 30-06 it also was done in Titanium. His business is called Straight Shooter Supply. AMRA

For a classic look: Midnight Blue on barrel, receiver, and safety/shroud Titanium on bolt and bolt handle
For a matte look: Graphite Black

Graphite Black is hard to beat, always looks classy.
To mimic blueing, Midnight Purple was the best I seen, but they don't make it anymore (since I checked last).
I have coated a few in H-238 Midnight Blue. Turned out great, but not my cup of tea.

I seen this rifle and it looked great! Shawn and Brady do excellent work, having them build me a couple of customs soon as I get all my parts.

I tried to mimic "Deep, Rich Bluing" with cerakote as best I could. Went with Midnight Blue with extra hardener. It's nice but it's still more black than gloss bluing yet that's just the nature of cerakote too.
When I coat another rifle though, it'll be Midnight Blue with extra hardener.
I like it.
Enjoying Each Sunrise...
