I would love a pump in 44mag. A 357 mag (or better yet maximum) would be cool to.
As I understand it the 14/141 took a lot of hand fitting. I wouldn't want a rifle that took hand fitting from the current Remington yahoos.

The current Remingtions are better than they've ever been. In fact they are the best selling, and most accurate production rifles in the world.

Don't slip back into silliness. Like you, I occasionally see something he writes that makes some sense. I think, well maybe he's coming around. Then a bad relapse... Oh well...

How is this the real Swampy? The real Swampy's name is Swampman700 no? Also the real SM would have a Reminton avatar and definitely not a Ruger. Imposter or what?

No interest in slug guns. This is a hunting rifle so no need for a lower rail. The 20 gauge 870 receiver forging is the same as the 7600 rifle. Maybe so, but the bolt lock up is a totally different system on the 7600 than it is on the 870. Also, the 7600 barrel is threaded into the receiver, not just held on by a big nut at the forend of the mag tube.

Get a 760/7600 and have a gunsmith chamber it in .450 Marlin and do as you please with the corn cob decor. Easy fix.

Those guns are set up for '06 head diameter of .473", whereas the .450 Marlin has a head diameter of .532", same as Magnum rounds. I understand the .450 Marlin works well in bolt action rifles. I don't know how well, or even if it is possible, to adapted the 760/7600 receiver. If anyone has more specific info, I would like to know more about this. DF

Why not just buy a 7600 in 35 Whelen? What it lacks in diameter, it makes up in velocity.
I must say, I am scratching my head over this post. As in, why the heck would anyone want one of those? But then it is swampy.
Thanks for the laugh today.

DF Fabricating a 7600 bolt head to accommodate a .45-70 rimmed case or even a .450 Marlin would be difficult at best. If I was going to build a .40+ cal bore based on the 7600 platform, I would build it around the rebated rim .425 Westley Richards brass.

Barrel of the 7600 is bolted to the receiver. You can see how by looking at an exploded view of the rifle.

Thanks for the laugh today. Yeah, a .35 Whelen is the straight forward way to go. Just playing around with Swamp to pass the time.
