Anyone have a Savage 10ML-II in a McMillan stock and if so what pattern? I am looking to get rid of the cheap plastic factory stock and get something better.

I've had one is a Savage/Remington Hunter. It was a good fit with the wide forend. Very comfortable stock.

I later did one in a Classic. Honestly, the barrel is a bit to large for the stock, even so, I prefer it. I like the Classic for a hunting stock.

Hoping to see some additional responses as I would like to change out my MLII stock as well.

I have one of my MLII's in a Boyds Prairie hunter (Walnut) and I just ordered a Duramaxx for the other. I think I will like em both.

I don't have an ML-II in the Hunter but do have a Savage 210F in the hunter. Might give you an idea of what a heavy barrel looks like in it. That stock handles stout recoil really well.

If you use the Classic I think you are going to need to full length bed the barrel or you might have a lot of foreend flex.

My 10ML-1 once set in a McM A3, it's now in a B&C Medalist Tactical. I'll try to dig up a pic.

I don't know what OD on the ML-II barrel is but I had to full length bed that stock. Makes everything really stiff. I don't know if you are going to be able to keep the ramrod attached to the gun or if you carry a take-down.

Also, with that barrel OD (1.1" straight taper to.930") I can't go over a 40-44mm OBJ lens and maintain a solid cheek weld. Doesn't bother me for that setup but I know some guys run big glass on the SML guns. Especially the sabotless.

I'm sorry, I forgot all about getting pics. You'll like the Savage Hunter, I think it's the best forend width for the ML.

No problem at all. Once I heard the Savage Hunter pattern was available for the 10ML-II it was pretty much a done deal anyways. This is the pattern I had wanted for my 220F but it would not work so I had to get the HTG.

Does anyone know the weight savings comparing the McMillan to the Factory Laminate?

Thanks,

No but if you have a factory stock I'll weigh my McMillan. If they would do it with Edge it could be a substantial savings.

Thanks. My savage is an awesome gun but just to heavy to carry all day.
