I would love to find a ZG but have not seen one around here, as a matter of fact I had never seen a 21 until I bought this one off gunbroker. I would like to try out the safety on the ZG although I do like the 21s on the left side

Thought seriously about keeping it an 8x57 after I got it but a nice light 9.3 is too appealing. I like the double triggers too so they are staying. A nice light 9.3x62 will be sweet, till you shoot it.

Good recoil pad and good eye relief on the scope helps a lot. Can't be near as bad as a lightweight AYA 10 ga double I had with a steel butt plate!

A nice light 9.3x62 will be sweet, till you shoot it. I have had six different 9.3x62 rifles plus my Merkel 9.3x74R drilling over the past few years, three of these were "light" and my ZG-47 in it's Micky Edge stock, with fullhouse loads of 286 bullets over Ramshot Big Game, is NOT unpleasant to shoot, at all. I had a custom P-64 carbine in 9.3x62, weighed under 8 lbs. all up and it was not bad, kicked less than my .375H&H P-64 carbine and my light Dakota .338WM, not much less, but, the difference is there. I can't think of a better combo for bush bashing in big bear country than a good, light 9.3x62 rifle and I am going to build one more to have four in total. The old German gunmakers knew what they were doing when they designed that fine round for rural uses in Africa and it will be just as useful here in parts of North America, today, IMHO.

I wonder if anyone here has ever built a 9.3 x 62 on a g.33/40 action?

Why would anyone want a pretty 9.3 ? I want one I can't lose after the third bottle of Jack and that can be fitted with a bayonet lug !
Hey NSAQAM, Larry is very "IN", LOL You also dishonor the 28th division by using the unit patch as an insult. As for the liar, welcher Bricktop, his day is fast approaching. Coward trolls won't accept PMs. How's the phantom "campfire" coming ?

I got the scope back from Leupold yesterday with the #4 reticle installed and a call from Jesse that he did the rebore and test fired it to make sure everything worked and fed OK. The rifle is in the mail and should be here on Saturday!

Thanks for all the comments. It looks like I am going to have more funds than originally thought so I was thinking about putting it into this rifle. Let me hear any ideas. I am thinking about a model 70 style safety and shroud. I was going to leave the finish alone since it looks pretty good but I might as well have it done. Should I go with a traditional blue finish? I was thinking about Birdsong's Black T to match the scope or maybe an appropriate Cerakote color? Also how d you feel about Alumina scope covers or Butler Creek covers? Does anyone know where to get an old style sling swivel for the butt stock?

Please don't paint that rifle with Cerakote or anything else that comes out of a spray can. Get Mike to rust blue it for you. He does a fantastic job and it'll be well worth what you pay for it.
I like the M70 safety idea.

I concur with Terry! Then again, I do drool when he posts pictures of his rifles, so you can say I am biased.

I got the barreled action back today and when Karnis is done doing his magic it will be on the way to Mike. I also went ahead and ordered a Dakota 3 position safety from Brownells. I am definitely going to let Mike blue it. Is the rust bluing worth the additional $175 over the caustic blue?

Does anyone have a picture with a rifle that was hot blued and one that was rust blued? The more I think about it the more I lean toward rust bluing it. Might as well get it right
