I'm sure some of y'all remember my threads about a 10 pointer I kept seeing on my property in SC. Well, I think someone else got him.

Is this the same deer?

I'm going to do some research on the hunter. The 1st picture was taken at our local processor, so I know he was killed in the same area as my property...

Now that is sad.....sorry. Now you know why it isn't always the bestplan to pass up a good buck and wait till next year.......he may not be there. If you had a big ranch may not be a big deal.

Sorry about your bad luck. Did you find out the age and score and figure out how close you were?
Thanks for the photos.

Optical illusion? Or check the left main beam in your trail cam photos. Between G2 and G3 does not appear the same weird angle as same in photo #1. But looking at trail cam #1 and #3 I believe thats the same buck that was taken.

Possible that 2 are/were around?

If not, hope your rut has had at least one good cycle and he passed em along!!

Jeff

Can you get a first hand look at the rack? I feel sure that with the rack in hand and your trailcam photos you can be certain whether or not it is "your" deer.

Boy, I hope it is not and that you get yours. I know you were pumped and I don't blame you. I really wanted to see you get that dude.

I actually don't feel too bad that someone else got him. I hunted for this buck VERY hard in October, and I never saw him. My mission now is to make sure that this buck wasn't poached off my land, but I'm already 99% sure that it wasn't. I want to talk to the guy who killed him just so I can figure out how big the buck was, where it was killed, etc. I'll also let him see the trail cam pics.

Nope, not your deer. Look at the right side main beam tip.

i noticed the same thing about the beam tip, however i think it may be camera angle. i beleive it's the same deer. i can't say much for the guy's hunting clothes. i'd try to get some info on the kill. you hate to say road kill, but again, service station attendant outfits usually don't make good hunting clothes. however, if that's the results you get from hunting dressed like that, i might go purchase a few. hope you find out. i'd talk to the processor about what time the deer was brought in. certainly looks like your buck

looking closer, the guy's shirt has something about a towing company. i wonder if it was hit by a car, and that guy is the wrecker driver. just a thought. i'd sure like to know the details.

Not yours. The right beam tip is wrong.

HOLY CRAP!

That means that yours is still out there AND he had a twin?!?!

DANG! That's great genetics down there!

Now, go get that danged buck. Today.

I think it's the same deer. The camera angle in the kill photo is making the 2nd point from the tip on the right beam look like it's part of the beam tip. I'd bet my small paycheck on it.

I'm with the majority here. I think the right side tip is the camera angle. You can just see the tip of the one behind the main beam there. Sorry to hear that for you. Heck, it kinda bums me out for you. Well, good luck and maybe you'll get a bigger one!

Come on guys.... am I blind. Your trail photos #1 and #2. The tine angles between G2 and G3. I haven't put a scale on it yet, but that can't be the same deer in the trail cam pics can it?

Different deer. The right side beam tip is different and the right eyeguard is totally different (straight and long on yours, heavier, shorter and curved on the dead one).

Yours is still out there, buddy. Go get him.

Don't think so Dogzapper, look close at the first pic of the guy holding it and the head on trail cam pic. Notice both dog killers have the exact same curve at the tips, to the left as you look at it.

I hate to say it but it certianly look slike the same buck to me. of course the angles are differnt in all the pics, and the pic of the dead buck has good light on it but looks the same to me. It sucks to hear you didnt hang your tag on him after all the time you spent on him
