I recently acquired a S&W model 21. I plan on loading 250 Keith style bullets over 7.5g of unique. The bullets I ordered are sized to .431...I don't know why I did this. I am worried if they will shoot in my gun, if you hold them up to the cylinder they will not even slip through. I haven't loaded any yet. Will they shoot safely if my barrel is actually .429, or are they too big?? I am new to this and I appreciate your guiadance and help.

It's my experience that the cylinder throat diameter is more important then barrel diameter. This assumes that S&W matched the barrel to cylinder, .429 barrels to 44 Spec or 44 mag cylinders, etc. The most accurate combination, that I've found, is for the cylinder throat to be 2/1000ths larger then the barrel diameter. I shoot mostly, 45 Colt, in S&Ws. My cast lead bullets are sized .454 for the cylinder throats and the barrel is .452 or .451. Your .431 bullets should do fine. Jim
