I have a Husky FFV in 7mm Mag that has a broken trigger bow/guard. Does anyone know where I can source one or the equivalent S&W?
Cheers, Al

Al,

Let me be the 1st to welcome you to the campfire!

The resident expert on all things Husqvarna is member SBHVA, so I'd suggest looking up his profile in the user list and send him an email.

Good luck on your search!

I really like the Husqvarna 1900/8000/9000 actions and have several of them with FFV and S&W roll stamps. I scored a McMillan Sako Hunter inletted for the 1900 action a couple of weeks ago off their internet specials page. $175 shipped to my door and promptly installed on my S&W C in 256 Newton. Haven't had a chance to get it to the range with the new stock installed, but I'm expecting the same sort of groups that it shot with a walnut handle.

Seriously, don't waste your time looking when SBHVA has his finger on the pulse of all things Husaqvarna and if he doesn't know, he knows who to contact.

My one once belonged to a good friend of mine, who unfortunately we are now planning his last hunt as he has the big C and was given until Xmas [last] to live. Fortunately he is still with us, but for how long. Anyways he sold it many noons ago and the next owner had a slight accident with it and I was able to purchase it. It is one of those nice old classic rifles, wood stock, super slick action, a tad heavy compared to some of today's lightweights. I am going to rebarrel it to 308 Norma Mag and hope to find a nice old Kahles or steel Weaver to put on it. and then maybe get out and shoot me some tahr.
That Husky certainly looks nice in that McMillan stock tho!

I really like the looks of that setup. Did the synthetic change the weight much?

I like them. Hard to complain about an action that is so smooth, even if they only come in 1 length and in blued CM.

The smoothness of the 1900 actions is beyond belief. A McMillan stock would be nice to have one on.

The first one I posted a pic of has a McMillan Remington Mountain Rifle stock on it that was bedded/installed by McMillan. It originally had a wood stock with a Monte Carlo hump and I'm not sure how much weight was saved by going with the Mickey stock. After the stock install, it went to Hart barrels for a duplicate countour through the barrel channel and finished at .650 and it was finished off by Birdsong in Black-T. When you tilt the muzzle downward, the bolt just slides foward on it's own.

I like the Husqvarna mannlichers alot and wish that I had enough duplicates to justify rebarreling some to cartridges I'd prefer to work with, other than the usual 243, 270, 308, and 30-06.

The McMillan Sako/Tikka/McMillan Hunter is 1 of my favorites and when a Sako Hunter inletted for the 1900 popped up on the Internet Specials page at the McM site, I called down 1st thing the next AM and snagged it. When it arrived, I dropped my favorite 1900 barreled action into it, the action and bottom metal are off a S&W C and the barrel is a 25" 1-8" ROT stainless air-gauged Douglas that Ray Montgomery in Grand Junction, CO, put together for me in 256 Newton. I have a mate to it in 338-06 and am thinking about going with a McSwirley Sako Hunter for it.

If I can find a decent Husky action it'll be headed for Hart for a 280 Ackley build in a Micky Edge Sako Classic pattern. Wish I could find out if those Zoli copies where the same quality that McGowen is still selling.

Are you saying that McGowen made the barrels for Zoli? I have 2 Zoli's and both shoot very very good.

I started a new post on here with photo's of my 300 win. mag. Zoli and a 8000 Husky.

I doubt that McGowen made the barrels for the Zoli bolt guns built on the 1900 style Husqvarna action.

McGowen has loose Zoli 1900/8000 style action for sale on their site for $425. If you want McGowen to barrel the action, that will cost $650. If you McGowen to install the barreled action in a finished maple stock, that will cost $875.

Before I bought a stock from McGowen, I'd look for a recommendation from SBHVA or, as a last resort, look at buying 1 from Hansen & Hansen in Southport, CT.

Thanks for that info Jeff. I didn't realize that McGowen was using the 1900 actions. Man, if I was building a hunting rifle and was looking at using a Remington style action, I would be all over one of those 1900 Husky styled ones.

I saw that McGowen was selling these Husky 1900 actions made by Zoli as apparently they have the copy rights to produce the Husky 1900 action. I know that SBHVA was asking awhile back about the actions and if they had interchangeable parts but I'm not sure if he ever got an answer to the questions. As others have stated, those 1900 (8000/9000) were some of the smoothest actions ever made and had extremely fast lock times.

Hanson does not have any stocks left for the 1900 action.
