I went to the gunsmith today and and planned on cutting the barrel on my 7mm mag to 18 1/2 inch barrel but the gunsmith said if I was cut the barrel all I would have is a 7mm08.

Because it would reduce your velocity to the speed of a 7-08.

You should have just had your dad do it. He is a gunsmith right?

The gunsmith didn't want to ruin a perfectly good gun. You will (should) thank him later.

All the powder burns up just fine. Not enough barrel length to keep the pressure up to get the designed velocity range.

Travis What happen not all the powder burns up or something? What Heeler said. Your bullet is still gaining speed when it reaches the 18" length. Not to mention it would sound like a train hitting a train. Travis
