I went to the gunsmith today and and planned on cutting the barrel on my 7mm mag to 18 1/2 inch barrel but the gunsmith said if I was cut the barrel all I would have is a 7mm08.

Because it would reduce your velocity to the speed of a 7-08.

The gunsmith didn't want to ruin a perfectly good gun.
You will (should) thank him later.

All the powder burns up just fine. Not enough barrel length to keep the pressure up to get the designed velocity range.

What Heeler said. Your bullet is still gaining speed when it reaches the 18" length.

Not to mention it would sound like a train hitting a train.

I'd cut it to 15" and then chop the stock to about 11" LOP. perfect rifle.

We should feel sorry for him, growing up without a dad...

It's obvious, 'cuz a dad would kick his stupid azz into the next month for acting like this.

You got a point, but it was still pretty funny IMHO. It was in the rifle twist thread.
