Just saw that the new T-1 has a 2 MOA dot? I am trying to think of why I might want a 2 MOA red dot over a 4 MOA red dot on a carbine?

Alot of people seem to think that a smaller dot will give them smaller groups shooting targets at a longer distances. I bought an Aimpoint Pro a few weeks ago and they advertise "2 minute of angle red dot for accurate target engagement at all distances". I seem to hit the same targets with the same amount of accuracy with my Aimpoint Comp M3 4MOA.

you can always make the dot appear larger by turning up the brightness - but you cannot make it smaller for precision shooting at the range....always the smallest dot available for me.

I didn't mind the 2MOA dot on my ML3's but don't really notice any difference on my 4MOA dot on my Micro. To me, the red dot is a fast sight nothing more. It's to hit center mass, not shoot groups with.
I mean at 100 yards the dot covers either 2" or 4" so precision is in a different realm.

I have not yet tried one of the 2moadots, but am curious to do so, just to for the sake of expirimentation.

I have an Eotech 552 that has a 1 minute dot. It works well. I found the A65 reticule to busy for my purposes.

An area where I was thinking that 2 moa MicroDot might be handy is on a hunting handgun, such as a 5" or 6.5" N frame, or a Redhawk, etc.
I am betting it might be just the ticket for my dad who can have a bit of a hard time seeing iron handgun sights.
Hunting the northside timber, or in failing light those irons can be pretty tough to see sometimes if your vision is not the best.
I wonder what kind of recoil they could take over a period of time.

The biggest reason for 2moa dots is the use of triplers. Put a tripler in front of a 4moa dot and you've got a dot that covers a one-foot diameter circle at a 100yd. Not too precise. Forget it at 200yd.

that's the winner! I was wondering if I "needed" a 2MOA dot!
