Since I got my under 6.5 pound all up and loaded Kimber I've noticed that it stays in my hands a whole lot more than any previous rifle I've had.
It was a revelation to me how much difference a lightweight rifle makes.

.24 caliber but if you're asking what cartridge then I'll say the .243 Winchester. Don't worry about the caliber/cartridge nomenclature misuse too much as it is almost universal but the proper usage is cartridge if you're referring to the brass cased thing filled with powder and topped with a bullet which fits in your chamber, and caliber if you're referring to the size of the hole drilled through the barrel.

Had the Kimber Montana been available WAY back when I started seriously hunting, I'd have gladly paid today's suggested retail price in yesterday's dollars. It would have been a seriously wise investment, seeing how many crap rifles I've blown money on over the years.
Go .308 Winchester. Simplicity has many benefits.

7-08, 7-08, 7-08! It's just me but I don't care for the .30 calibers.

Go for girth. Probably more fun for you when measuring twist.

Ive only had two Kimber rifles, but they have both been awesome. A 22-250 and a 300 wsm. Used the 300 wsm in Africa and it was awesome. Shoots well, handles well and feels light enough to carry all day, but heavy enough that I dont take a pounding when I squeeze the trigger.
