When Illinois was doing some more stupid gun law work, I sent letters to Springfield and a few other manufacturers in Ill, and gave them the digital tour of our nearby town.

Big empty industrial buildings (former textile mills), rail on site, 3 Interstates within 20 miles or so.

I may have to dig up that letter again. Would love to have them come on down. Hopefully, our new state executive branch is more business friendly. This may work.

There's plenty of empty factory floor space around here, and lots of housing for the workers.

First, I use a revolver, so it won't affect me. I definitely won't eject my cases after killing anyone or robbing the bank! I guess the business to be in if microstamping passes will be casing catchers on all autos.

Also, expect to see a lot of crooks collecting cases ar the firing range for salting their crime scenes...

When a column of troops under Lt. Col. Francis Smith moved into the countryside to collect arms and munitions gathered by the patriot militia, hostilities erupted at Lexington and Concord on Apr. 19, 1775.

Never understood why so many of the gun companies have stayed in states that are unfriendly towards them and their products.

I know that was in jest (and well taken) but we can already identify any firing pin indentation.

That is very interesting!

Pulling the trigger lets the firing pin contact the primer the bullet will then contact the rifling.

Remington you are Welcome to Tennessee

For what it is worth Wikipedia explains "it involves the use of laser technology to engrave a microscopic marking onto the tip of the firing pin and onto the breech face of a firearm."

Whats even worse is that NY had a system called COBIS where every new hangun sold in the state had to have a spent case entered into a ballictic database. This system was around for maybe 20 years. Many manufacturers would ship the case with a new handgun, but several would not. For handguns where no case was included, a time consuming process was inplace to have the gun fired and a a case entered into the database. From a practical standpoint it meant that some handguns couldn't be bought new in NY.

We after maybe 20 years and 10's of millions of dollars Cobis did nada for crime in NY. Some have clamied it never solved a crime.

What folks need to understand is that there are a handful of strident antigun democrats in the assembly and senate and every year they introduce a dozen or so bills, such winners as.. no 50cals (no exception for muzzleloaders), end the lifetime pistol permits, microstamping and a few others.

Traditionally these bills all died every year and then resurfaced the next. This year they got Microstamping attached to the budget bill, which will make it much harder to stop.

I don't know if there is an exception for police weapons.. be pretty funny to see what happens when they can't get a glock.

The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them. Coolidge

Of course, the real effect and objective, is to drive up the cost of firearms.

Anyone know just what exactly the $7,800.00 per unit "upgrades" are? And......do the bolt handles still fall off of the upgraded rifles?? grin

I wonder how many gold inlays that includes?

IIRC, Winchester doesn't even make firearms anymore. They have other companies make them and have their name put on them. The new Winchester model 70 is made by FN in S. Carolina, not by Winchester. Most of their other firearms are made by the companies that make Browning's firearms.

I'm surprised the dem's here in New Yorkistan are going to do anything to effect the "union workers" at Remington's Ilion, NY plant. The workers there are members of the United Mine Workers of America (UMW). But then again, Colt and their uaw workers in Connecticut don't seem to be working out to well. Since Colt has opened a manufacturing plant in Central Florida. Colt's Connecticut plant is probably as good as gone in a matter of time. The uaw will save the workers at Colt though. . . . .sure they will. They were going to save us. . . . .our plant is just about closed now and will be closed within the year.
