IT WILL DO 900 STANDING ON ITS HEAD OR ILL EAT THE ASS OUT OF A WOODCHUCK. CHECK COMPLETED AUCTIONS ON GUNBROKER, YOU SEE BUBBA SPECIALS DOING $800, THAT THING IS IMMACULATE IN A FAIRLY UNSEEN CONIGURATION, I SAY IT IS WORTH $1000, AND IT WOULD NOT TAKE LONG TO SELL IT. +1 even with all the CAPS ON!!!!!!!! If he's looking to sell it, I'm sure it would be gone pretty fast for $1,000.00
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

well, I hope for the OP's sake you're right, but the cut and pad completely destroys the value to a M70 collector.
It becomes a shooter....and a damn nice one...or a candidate for a replacement stock, with which it is worth maybe $900 in my estimation.
what kind of a sick dog would cut a beautiful stock like that to put a pad on a freaking .243 to begin with? sigh.

Ha finally found the answer I was looking for, my stock on the 06 is uncut ! 13 1/2" with the plastic buttplate. Cool beans.
JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

If it ain't cut it wil do all the money. You don't need a butt plate.

Picture with the pad still on. I have taken the pad off and put a plastic buttplate on which is 4 7/8" in heigth. That leaves the wood proud about an 1/8" at the bottom.
