Not impact. Not volcanic, yet entirely physical and smaller examples are found all over the place.

In a way, you're sort of close, but that was volcanic and this isn't.

Never seen that before, it's pretty damn cool.
The major difference between belief and fact is those who believe something have come to a conclusion no facts will contradict. Well informed people are open to new facts that oppose their beliefs. That also defines an open and closed mind.

Looks like a laccolith to me. There is a collapsed laccolith in Big Bend Ranch State Park in West Texas, but it is only about 50+ square miles in area (approximately 10 miles in diameter).

In a way, you're sort of close, but that was volcanic and this isn't. From wikipedia: "It is often difficult to reconstruct shapes of intrusions. For instance, Devils Tower in Wyoming was thought to be a volcanic neck, but study has revealed it to be an eroded laccolith."

They are from whirlpools when the earth was covered by water.
We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

They are from whirlpools when the earth was covered by water. You mean that's a plugged up drain? Ed

They are from whirlpools when the earth was covered by water. Ding...ding...ding!!!! We have a winner. They are tidal in nature and this one was on a grand scale~ They call them maelstroms and there are a couple big ones but not nearly so large! This was enormous and at a time when the water over the area was fairly shallow and tidal flow caused a huge maelstrom over thousands of years. I'm surprised science hasn't come out and stated it emphatically. Forest for the trees I guess. Dan

WOW! That is cool! I imagine from sapce it must have looked similar to Jupiters' Big Red Spot?
Thanks for sharing that, Dan.
