Waste of [bleep] time and money is another way to phrase that. Travis That's okay though, I've read many say the same thing about your posts...bada bing. More power than a 10mm. My posts cost money? Travis

Count me as another .44 Special lover.
Have had several 44 mags. and 41 mags plus several .45 Colts.
Picked up a Ruger 4-5/8" FlatTop and haven't looked back.
Got Cougars living on my neighbors timberland where I hike, so this .44 Special is my "cat gun"

.44 Specials tend to shoot good. I like 800-850fps most days. Travis

Used to do the .44 Mag thing, but it only saw Special loads. Was sort of pointless having an N-Frame. Travis

I, too, really appreciate this round. Mine is always in my range bag while other handguns wait their turn.It is a great combination of accuracy, mild recoil, and enough terminal "oomph" to handle anything I'm likely to hunt.

Whatcha sellin'? I'm on the lookout right now for a take-off, pre-warning Ruger Blackhawk 44 Magnum barrel, 7 1/2" to be fitted up to one of my 44spl Flattops. Kinda a faux-New Frontier...

Well, it is to be determined, but possibly a 396 NG.

Pre-warning really won't matter as the 44 Mag barrel will have to be turned down and threads recut to fit the smaller framed Flattop. A call to Bowen, Clements or Harton will surely turn up the barrel.

Travis,
Your picture is an exact copy of my FlatTop .44 Special
4-5/8" barrel with black factory grips.
I'm shooting a 255 grain hard cast flat point at about 850 FPS.
Great gun!

I had a Flat-Top .357 converted to .44 SPL by Dave Clements before Ruger made the .44 Flat-tops in .44. Best gun I have, it shoots LBT 260 gr. WFN's that I cast into little groups, and is drop dead gorgeous to boot, with case color by Turnbull and spalted maple grips. I was trying to find 'the load' over time, and I stumbled ob a load of SR4756 in an old Speer manual. I tried it and it has become my load of choice, pushing the LBT bullet to about 950. For some reason, my gun isn't fond of Skeeter's load, and I haven't had the urge to try the Keith load, (that's what .44 mags are for), but I'm happy with it the way it is.

Travis ... cuz you wanna buy a 329 NG???? Huh? I own a 329NG but I just bought a 310 NG, which may negate my need for the 396. Stop drinking in the AM. Travis

I run 250 gr Keith SWC's over 7 grs of Universal in my Special's. Used to use Unique loaded the same but have found Universal as accurate and much cleaner.
