I agree w/ you completely on Pythons vs S&W. Over the last 35 years or so, I really tried to like the three Pythons I had and couldn't muster the enthusiasm I can for nice Smiths. They all went down the road, and the one that stayed in their place is the five inch Model 27-2 I bought new in 1981. I also agree on your sleeper comment.

A good friend bought a 50's N frame .357, 4" in about 80% condition for $350. Nice, tight and very smooth shooter.

His eyes got big when I showed him what a pre-27, 5 screw, even at 80% is worth. This gun is a '54 model and locks up solid with perfect bore. It was probably packed a lot more than it was shot.

Those are real sleepers... smile

Great pictures. Mint K-38.

Nice gun.

DF

Edited to say, if ever a K-38 brought more than Blue Book and predicted value, that one should be on the short list.

That gun, IMHO, is collector grade and should be marketed as such.

Agreed. Heck, I just looked at one with target hammer and over sized grips that was for sale at $1000. Had holster ewear, but otherwise pretty good.
The one I had back in the 60's was a super accurate revolver. It would put all six Western Super Match loads into 3/4 of an inch, outside spread, at 25 yds. E

Oh my, a wonderful gun. KEEP IT!
I had one like it long ago and never had enough money for a new gun. I have kicked myself ever since for selling it. Too many great guns have come and gone and I regret every single one.
