I took the parting tool and removed the tenon off a as new 12" twist HV Krieger that was threaded for an action I sold, a model M BAT. I fitted it to a Borden BR. Waiting on my reamer holder. This is addicting!

Talk about itchy, man this is when work truley is a 4 letter word!!

N135 and some 87 grain V-max`s are in my future!!

That sucker is screwed in and ready....

I have a good feeling about the groups, as dialing this barrel in was about as good as it gets. I bought an Alina test indicator to use in the bore that reads to the .0001" it has a 7/8th inch reach, so I go in as far as she`ll reach to adjust the chuck, and then way out on the end and adjust the spider. I got the gauge to fall asleep!! Went in many, many chip clearings with reamer till I decided to cut the bolt nose angle with the cross feed set at 30*. Carefully finished up where the Go Gauge would close, but with celophane tape added to the back it would not. The .237" bushing fit like a glove on the front of the reamer. Great experience, and yesterday was my oldest sons birthday, so a great day to remember!!

Tim, congratulations on the lathe. Good talking to you this morning. I will have to say to all who read this or who will read this; in five years or less, Tim Claunch will be a recognized name in the benchrest rifle building arena. With your attention to detail and drive to be the best at whatever you do, it will only be the next step of many in your journey. Steve

Whatever I have said or done to make you feel this way I am certainly gratefull. I hope I can achieve the high standards you feel I am capable of.

I set up my 2nd barrel in the lathe last night, and must say I am living a dream. The tools I have picked out, and the questions I have asked from the right people makes this an incredible experience.

Easy there big boy...

We have a saying in the trade "they make more steel every day". One day you'll understand. grin

I think the ultimate satisfaction in the shooting sports is to build your own rifle and have it shoot well. Enjoy!!!

My meaning is of the setup. The techniques I am using seem really awesome.

I am enjoying this very much, and thank you!

That 2nd barrel I spoke of is a barrel Mike Davis chambered for me in 6BRX, I was at the IBS Nats, and got to look at it with a nice bore scope.

100 yd and just 3 shots, but 3 big ones talk about pumped!!!

Today was the first trip to the range with something I chambered. This was the Mike Davis barrel I purchased that he chamberd in a no turn 6BRX. It now is a .268" Dasher, broke in my Henriksen reamer to boot.

I took measurments off another tenon to chamber this one, didn`t tear down my rifle. So its very likely I can do dat. I would need a barrel that fit your action and preferably it being the same chamber as the blank reamed.

I know what you're saying about work. We've been putting in a ton of overtime. I built a new rifle a few months ago, haven't had the free time to work up loads. Heck I ran a group match this past Saturday and I didn't take my gun.

This work stuff is interfering with my play time...

I must have Mad Scientist blood flowing in my veins. I took today off to go to our club and try to dial in for Sundays IBS match. My buddy I shoot with said the earliest would be around 4:00 this afternoon, well thats all it took. I grabbed another barrel and went to town. When the dust settled about 3:30 I had another .268" ND 6Dasher. Mad Scientist Blood I tell ya, it has to be. blush

What I am excited about was I took 2 rifles so they could decide who wanted to go this Sunday. I had my awesome shooting 6BRX, and the set back Mike Davis gun.

Mr. Davis and my setback clearly won the rights to Sundays match.... cool
