You shouldn't need to turn necks. And yes, I'm saying that in my guns, as far as precision shooting, they don't show a marked preference between Lapua and Remington. Case life has yet to be determined, but my money is obviously on the Lapua.

The best way of making 260 brass from 308 brass is to resize to 7-08 first, then go down to 260 - minimizes should necks from too much lube.
it just works better in the two step process

Neck turning -
Generally I believe off the shelf rifles have a pretty generous neck dimension.
BUT if you go custom bench or customer barrel where you could have a tight neck then you have concerns about resizing and such.
So tight neck chamber can = neck turning.

For my heavy 260Rem I fireformed Lapua 243 brass. No issues with thick necks. And safe to say those 200 brass will last longer than the barrel.
That was before the Lapua 243 brass hit the market.
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

I've necked down right at 1000 pc of WW 7-08 brass to make .260 brass.
No neck turning required.
