Ain't it the truth about Venturino! I think he's ridden (or would it be written?) the 44/40 into the ground and it's mostly the same old stuff.
I miss Ross' articles a lot. The DGJ is unfortunately a bit rich for my blood.

Seyfried was bad enough. I do not read any of the rags any more. Not enough knowledge, substance, or experience to share with an old goat like me. I either know what they're writing already ..............or I know that it's horse sh*t. My BS meter has a hair trigger I don't wish harm to ole Ross, hope he finds a good job, maybe writing cooking or sewing or basket weaving articles etc.. Merry Christmas Believers, GeoW I enjoy the uniqueness of his articles and have talked to him on the phone a number of times. I have always found him as no BS and extremely knowledgeable. He has always been friendly to me and invited me to stop by on more than one occasion. Maybe those who find him boring are reading about things that are over there head and comprehension level? I have a BS meter and a Bag of Wind Meter. Both are going off with ole Geo. If you want to know why knowledgable people don't read or respond to Forums re read this thread.

I know Ross personally, and he is very opinionated about almost any subject you want to bring up---------but so am I, and thousands of others who haven't turned into metro-sexual, limp wrists that are checking the poles prior to forming an opinion. GeoW's BS meter is going off due to it's proximity to it's owner. BTW, LaGrande does have a WallyWorld. 222

He told me that he thinks it is a waste of time as everyone wants to either make stupid statements or argue.
I can't figure out why he thinks that.

George--I don't know you from squat, but Seyfried's resume is pretty much public record. You can dislike his writing, or his personality, or his haircut, but what he's done is fact, not BS. +1 I also like the (rare!) way he actually reported that "product x" had shortcomings, unlike a few gun writers who wax eloquent about absolutely everything that passes through their money-grubbing hands. My opinion, worth twice what you paid for it! John

I have spoken to Ross twice and found him to be very polite and easy to talk to. I have some friends who hunt with Ross and consider him to be a personal friend and a superior hunting hoste.

A few of today's writers really make me sick. Between all of the industry a$$-ki$$ing, new-age-style, physics-defying BULListics, perk-payback and the attitude of some that they've never met a rifle or a cartridge or a bullet yet that they didn't like, you can just about hear the lyrics to "Everything Is Beautiful In Its Own Way" every time you read an article anymore. It's like no one really believes in anything anymore or stands for anything anymore, other than to make the paid advertisers happy. And what we've been largely left with is a spirit of mediocrity..........
At least guys like Keith and O'Connor and Hagel STOOD FOR SOMETHING, and they weren't caught up in the continuous rifle/cartridge-of-the-month club stuff that has gotten so predictable and so stale in recent years. Jim Carmichel has pretty much hunted with the fine rifles he's wanted to hunt with over the years as well, as did his predecessor.
Ross is of the same stripe, and maybe that's one reason we haven't seen as much of him as we would like to have in recent years. But his superb taste, expertise, and experience has always shown through, and he always knows whereof he speaks. He is not intimidated by the concept of excellence, nor does he turn a blind eye to it. There's depth and substance to him...........

There was an interesting article by Ross in the latest American Rifleman.
It is the first I have seen by him in a good while. I always enjoyed his writing.

Don't you guys know we aren't allowed to talk about this anymore.
Every few years some new poster wants to bring up this and that again in complete ignorance to the fact that the "regulars" on this forum have already talked about it. So don't waste our time and figure out how to use the Search tool.
P.S. If you didn't pick up the above sarcasm...
P.P.S. In all seriousness Ross Seyfried is a tremendous writer and would be an assest to any hunting/gun publication.
