I dont think you look through the T-1 you look at it and at your target with both eyes open it obscures much less of the scene than do the larger aimpoints. I don't peer thru a red dot like a rifle scope when shooting at 50 yards or under.

While it may seem that way, there is not a single 1x-blank scope made that has "0" magnification. The S&B 1-8x Shortdot is very close. If you doubt this try reading a newspaper while looking through the scope with the paper held about arms length in front of the objective. Then do the same with an Aimpoint. Although I don't know why you would have to do this unless you have a weird issue with your eyesight, as it is plain to see while looking at close targets (10-20ft distance) that there is a difference between images with bare eyes and looking through the scope.

I have used the Burris XTR extensively. As well as all three versions of the S&B ShortDot 1-4x, Meopta K-Dot 1-4x, GRSC 1-4 and 1-6, Leupold 1.1-8x CQBSS, Swarovski Z6i 1-6x, Ziess VV 1.1-4x, Trijicon TR24 1-4x, and just about every other low power variable suitable for use on an M4. While some are better then others, and a couple are truly outstanding, none are as fast as an Aimpoint or EoTech.

I said basicly the same thing a year or two ago when SWFA came out with their 1-4 scope and was told I didn't know what I was talking about. Good to see I'm not the only one wink

Yeah, I think Formid has confused one of the many cheaper Burris imports with the XTR. Bruce Piatt runs one one his 3-gun rifle, or at least he has in the past, as most of the top tier guys have gone to 1-6x scopes this year.

The typical 1-4 scopes are also heavy, I picked up a 3.5X trijicon the other day it seemed a lot lighter than my 1-4 Nightforce. The new SWFA 1-6 is 22 ounces IIRC without the mount! If I am going to scope another rifle it will be either a traditional 1 inch rifle scope or an ACOG. I won't ever get another 1-4.

I am not confused. I know exactly which Burris you are referring. Additionally I know what optic Bruce is using as I shoot with him several times a year.

There are no 1x optics that are truly 1x. They are all 1.something x.

And for clarity, this is what I was agreeing with.
