Tried a search but to no avail. I used H380 for years but have alot of Varget and CCI 200 and 250 primers, generaly use Win. brass. Any thoughts. Have a sweet Sendero on the way I bought here. Also have hundreds of 60 gr. Hornady SPs to try.

if you are looking to see if the combo is accurate?

well my 22.250 barrels have seen a lot of Varget pass thru them... and have seen a lot of the 60 grain SP Hornadys also go down them...

you shouldn't be disappointed at all..

Varget and 4064 are the two powders I have had good luck with in various 22-250s.

Varget with 55 to 60s in the 22.250 works just dandy as a combo.

My last .22-250 didn't like 55 grain bullets.

I worked carefully up to 37.5 grains of Varget under both 50 grain SPSX and 50 grain TNT bullets with WW brass and Fed 210M primers.

This is *hot*, but a half grain less opened the groups up about 2 inches so I couldn't back off it and those were the only 2 loads that particular .22-250 would shoot worth a damn. It pretty near bug-holed with them, 5 shot groups in the .2s. Otherwise it was a 1.5+ MOA gun at best.

Glad to hear Varget works well as I have a bunch of it and my buddy uses most of my H380 so now maybe I can smoke him at the range as his tang safety Ruger is sick accurate. Bought the Varget for the 204 but it was way slow. Thanx.

Interesting. My first .22-250, a Ruger 77 varminter with the tang safety, also thrived on H380. I think ... I think it was 40 grains of H380. The bullet was definitely a 50 grain SPSX.

I've had really good luck with Varget in the .204, 27.5 grains under any of the 39-40 grain bullets is giving me half inch or better groups which is "ok" for a sporter-weight rifle with a 2.5-8X scope. That may not be quite max, but I've had some issues with pierced primers from that particular action with previous barrels and I don't like the cost of replacement Jewell triggers.

With 32s I'm typically running 28 grains of H335.

If you've got a lot of Varget, use it. One of the really great things about a (good) 22-250 is it will digest just about anything you pour down it. I have used mine over the years to clean up partial cans of powder I had sitting around from discontinued projects.

Not 55gr but close. 50 grain V-max and 35.2 gr Varget, stock Savage 12 BVSS, loaded on the cheap... Seemed awful easy at the time.

The load on the side of the Varget can was the most accurate 55 gr load I ever found for my Cooper Varminter. I do substitute 55 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips for the soft points. Try it.

Funny you say that as it is the first loads I'm trying today with a few different 55s. Calm day here in jersey.

That load on the side of the Varget bottle w/55s was hot in my gun at 3650 fps, stickie bolt lift. Moderate load of H380 and 50s got me 3875 fps and very accurate for the first day at the range this year and a new to me VSSF. Will go down a bit on the Varget load and try again.

Accuracy is a relative thing, to some people 1" groups are fantastic, to others a 1" group means it is time to re-barrel.

I have never got very tiny groups with 22/250's shooting varget with the 55's and 36.0g was darn hot in my rifle.

R#15, Win 760, H380, H and IMR 4895, and IMR 4064 blew the socks off of Varget with 50 and 55g Bullets.

Varget did shoot 3/4"-1" groups in my rifle with the 55's, but that was just not acceptable.

As a hunter and hack bench guy if I put three shots that a dime covers I'll say it's accurate and be happy. Five shots is the true test but damn hard for me with hunting rifles unless I get lucky.

The Cooper Varminter single shot is a 3/8 MOA rifle with the Varget load off the can with 55 gr Ballistic Tips loaded close to the lands. No pressure issues in mine but I am loaded to a greater OAL. Many other loads struggled to get to 1/2"

This rifle is my least accurate CF Cooper Varmint gun. The .204 and .17 MACH IV beat it by a bit. There is a Brux 1 in 8 twist barrel in waiting to turn the .22-250 into a .22 BR someday.

Varget and a 63 Sierra has been incredibly accurate and my go to combo for a long time. That or a 53 TSX and Varget.

I somehow forgot my Varget loads at home but these H380 loads did well. I rarely shoot five shot groups in the 6s and 7s like these did but I had a good day and the range to myself. Very windy day. Still working on Varget loads. Bought this rifle here a few weeks ago.

Hodgdon called it that due to "38 grs and a 52gr bullet gives me 1 hole groups."
It really is a good powder in the 250, one of the draw backs is it's a dirty powder. The other is that is very Temp sensitive. If working with upper level loads on a hot day Beware! h-380 has been known to do some pretty strange things under those conditions. IME. Have fun
