Looks like it could go either way or maybe both. Regardless he was a nice deer.

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a hunting license and that's pretty close.

I am thinking mule deer. I hunted Wyoming a few years back with my dad and brother in law and they killed muleys with some definite whitetail characteristics......made me think that where they overlap, there must be some cross breeding. In fact, the one my brother in law killed looked a lot like that one. Mine looked a lot more like a typical mule deer. They all came out of the same general area within 48 hours of each other.

Seeing a buck like that could be real interesting if it was legal to shoot a whitetail, but not a mulie, or the other way around. A guy might have to flip a coin, then get on the rifle.

Good looking set of antlers, whatever they are!

I took that skull to a biologist in Midland. He verified it as 100% whitetail. We gross scored the buck at 191 and change. I asked the landowner and his ranch hand if they'd ever seen that buck, and of course the answer was, of course, "no". Helluva buck, huh?
