I wouldn't call him a monster but at 407lb I would say it is a very respectable bear.

The fantastic pictures were taken with a dispossable camera. The light in there was bad as that spot is fairly thick.

Jeff-o my last elk hunt was 2010 and no I did not kill an elk on that hunt. I couldn't close the gap to bow range. I am pretty damn sure I could have made the 65 yard shot with my bow. The problem with that is I can not control all the other circumstances. So I decided that the memory of the hunt was enough for me. I didn't need to force something for the sake of saying I killed an elk. I can still to this day hear him bugling and smell him. Not a bad memory to have in my book.

Pretty good estimate of weight for a bear you "let walk", and excuses are like azzholes, everyone has one. Should maybe change your initials from MCH, to CMPH.

And if you ACTUALLY did let a 407 lbs. bear "walk", your a bigger dumphuck than I gave you credit for. Hell, tell us more about your bear judging skills, or better yet, SCAN some pictures from this decade. That's funny right there!

It's pretty easy to let critters walk when you either -

A} Don't have a clean shot.

B} Don't have a tag.

C} It's not in season.

I've personally let two big bears walk in recent years while bowhunting for deer because of reason "C".

I agree, but he's trying to play it that he let it walk by choice, looking for something "bigger".

Yeah well, he's obviously a great big asswhole with delusions of grandeur so what do you expect ?
