That's a Compact, right? I have had several new FN M70s, two of which have been Extreme Weathers. They all shot extremely well and the only one that needed bedding was the one BSA now owns. The others were ready to go out of the box. My current .270 EW will shoot well below MOA out at 300 yards, which is as far as I've shot it on paper, and it is not finicky. I don't even mind the B&C stock, although it is a little bulky in the grip.
I keep thinking about buying another EW in .300 or .30-06, though I don't need one. I hope you can find a good 30-06 ........I'd sell you this one back but I really like the new (alright it wasn't new but never used by Dan360 ) stock......What were you guys saying about slapping these EW's in a micky???: DMD, I still appreciate the great deal you gave me on this rifle. I'm taking good care of it...

Just something about the walnut/ss that I like too....The ss/walnut fwt's are very nice....I don't think you are a ruger fan but I dolled my 308 up a bit by swapping the stock for a nice walnut one. Mucho better:
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Yeah, its a compact It was inletted originally for a Featherweight 30-06...... Thanks Dan, and yes it was inletted a little tight but it came out alright (had to remove some barrel channel material to get it to fit)..... .....KDK yes that is a hunters edge (compact). Hope I'm saying that right....

I bought a EW in .300wsm. First groups were around 3/4-1" groups. Nice rifle in my book. Well made, good stock and trigger nice too look at and they shoot......what's not to like? Some say the old trigger was better and more reliable......I like this gun enough to buy another!

Same here, but have yet to see one or even hear of someone that's seen one. They are back on the website, but I wonder if any have actually been made. If they do make them, I'll probably get one.

I bought a Kimber Montana 270 WSM last year with the intentions of rebarreling to 7 WSM. Ended up buying a new EW 7 WSM because they were a special run and started leaking out to the dealers last August. Love this rifle. First 3-shot groups with 160-grain Accubonds were under an inch. I'm going to see if this rifle shoots 140-grain TTSX bullets that I use in my other 7 WSM. The B&C stock ain't bad at at, though no compact EDGE that my other one sits in. Been contemplating on letting my Montana go now and forgetting that rebarrel route.
