Not for $220. That's ridiculous.

Yeah, I put one in an FN action a few months ago. My reviews have already appeared in RIFLE LOONY NEWS and the issue of RIFLE that just appeared.
It's a great trigger, in fact it adjusts easier than the original, due to having the correct strength spring. It took maybe half an hour to install, then adjust to a very clean 2-1/2 pound pull.
Big Redhead, I guess you haven't priced many of the better custom triggers lately!

I guess not. I also admit to being a dinosaur and not fond of the direction of our (my) way of life these days (e.g. prices up, salary down). Bit I'm just a clueless Electrical Engineer with 26 years experience and a 178 IQ. Maybe I should switch vocations or something.

Not for $220. That's ridiculous. Yes, it is ridiculous, but then $3.99/gallon gasoline (I used to pay $0.19/gallon in 1957), Winchester M70 rifles for $900 (I bought one 50 years ago for $119), etc., is also ridiculous. If you don't want to pay, don't buy it.

Not for $220. That's ridiculous. Have you priced liability insurance lately?

A great trigger, but my concern is the amount of material behind the trigger and in front of the tang screw. It looks like a very small amount of stock there. Big Red,Possibly when you have a little more experience you will see how it works in the real World.

I'm having one installed on my 98 custom as we speak. I'll let you know how well it works out. BTW, a big thank you to Mule Deer for the heads up. This has to be my favorite trigger design. E

Some prices for various aftermarket triggers today:
Jewell for Rem. 700: $180-235, depending on model Jard 2-7 oz. for 700: $181.50 Jard 3-pound for 700: $137.50 Timney for 700: $130 Timney for AR-15: $270
Even the plain Timney for the 98 Mauserm, without any safety, is $80. You can include their scope-friendly military 98 safety for another $39, or order the 98 model with integral side safety for $100.

More perspective: Lots of people spend as much or more on their sights (scopes) than they do on their rifles themselves - when a perfectly, reliable, functional scope can be had for a fraction of the rifle's cost.

Looks like a great trigger, so I just ordered one for my .375. For those that have used them, Is the trigger stainless or chrome moly?

Yeah, there was an optics thread not too long ago where somebody inisisted the very best scope for brown bear hunting was a 2.5-10x Nightforce, since it was one of the few scope capable of withstanding the recoil of the cartridges "required" for browns.
Somebody else pointed out that a new Leupold 3x will withstand as much recoil at 20% of the price of the Nightforce, and the bear will be just as dead.

I bought one last winter and installed it in my M98 7X57 I have one of the best triggers period in my Mauser........ Going to buy another and put it in my M98 .458 WM this summer.
Gun writers forgive me for posting, my thinking is why skimp on the trigger and argue about cost when going to the grocery store wipes us out or going out to dinner?

I'm just a clueless Electrical Engineer with 26 years experience and a 178 IQ. Why would anyone with an IQ of 178 waste their time on one of these forums? Oh, they are very well designed and built triggers by the way. I picked one up for the next project.

It's for entertainment, Phil, and learning. Everybody learns. In fact, everything we know we had to learn at least once. I even learn from you.
IQ isn't the only measurement of intelligence, and possibly not the best. I am sharp in the physical realm (things) but not a contender in other areas. Like most, my greatest worth is as part of a well-lead team of good people. In fact, I am starting with a new company on 7/9 and looking forward to it. As of the end of July the company for whom I currently work will exist no longer.
I suppose "ridiculous" was too strong of language for the subject trigger. "Costly" may be a better word, but like has been pointed out, what isn't costly today? I just dropped $1295 plus on a new rifle I need like a hole in the head (416 Rigby) so "Stupid is as stupid does" I guess.

I was being facetious -- for some unexplainable reason there happen to be a number of bright folks on here. And some maybe not so. All of us hope to learn - it's just that we don't always learn what we hoped to.

Hey Phil, While you're online, please answer my question on the "More than adequate" thread. I would like your opinion on the 30-06 vs. 45-70 for bears. Thanks. By the way, I used "ADEQUATE" in scrabble once for a ton of points. Covered two 'triple word' squares. Walked away with that game.

I am very trigger sensitive. After shooting 1.5oz BR triggers for 25+ years, a poor hunting trigger just kills me. I had rather have a great trigger over a great scope if I had to make a choice.
