Jordan, which powder(s) are you or others using to get those speeds with the WSM?

I could be wrong seven_miller but I believe they're using a new prototype powder called H75KPSI that just came out this year...... Dober

Thinking lots of those guys use H4831sc and various Vihtavouri powders, and probably some Norma stuff too. Or what my man Dober said...

C'Mon Man! H75KPSI isn't a new powder, it's the same ol' powder the 7mm "Mashed-Taters" crowd has been using for decades. We all know that H75KPSI goes best with only certain favored 7mm cartridges and purple kool-aid..... gosh, the rest of us would be a fool to use it in anything else...

Dober More like +85KPSI, most guys were running them pretty hard to get 2950 with the 180's in the 7WSM, a 195 is alot of bullet in that short fat case and I think a better bullet for the longer cases, but what a LR missle it would be!

Any news on the 7/375 Ruger? Seems a good fit here also...

QL shows the following with a 180 Berger and 26" barrels to make 2950
58593psi for the 7 Rem Mag 70697psi for the 7 WSM
The 195 is going to take a large case for sure to make it work well.

Just curious- what were the input details on the two loads? The 7WSM is within 0.5gr in case capacity of the 7RM, so assuming equal input variables, pressures should be a lot closer than that, I would think.

want to take it to 1300yds. Since you're hunting, I'm sure you expect an impact velocity to open up the bullet. Don't you? I don't think the 284 S or 280 Ackley will do that at 1,300 yds.

Well, you have to figure even if just intuitively, that 2950 is about what you get with a 180 gr 30 caliber bullet in the 300 WSM;a 7mm bullet weighing 15 gr more with less base for the gas to push on,(and likely more bearing surface because it's longer)is going to be harder to get to the same velocity in a case of the same capacity...and only one thing will do it....more pressure. I could be all wet here, but in a case with the capacity of the 7 Rem mag and 7mm WSM, I'd be happier with something like a 162 Amax myself. You'll start it faster for sure, and the 195 might catch up, but at what distance I don't know.. Numbers anyone?.......anyone?
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.
