Been wondering that myself. See I just traded off two guns I weren't shooting for a practically unfired Irish Contract Enfield No. 4 Mk. 2 (ca. 1955) AND $100  Pretty much a brand new gun. WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!! One of them rare, great, gunshow moments, out of the blue, the reason why we all go to these things, month after month. But, without Sean, there's been no one to share this with. I do for one. Hell Tim, I would even miss you around the 'fire! I'd miss you to Terry. VA not so much. Didn't even know he was gone. He and I have had some serious words. Once on my chit list it's pretty hard to get off of it.

Good for you on the Enfield. Reminds me of another trade I shouldn't have made. I had one of the Irish contract Enfields new and still in the wrapper awhile back. Wish I still did. They seem to keep going up in value. The one I have now is a No 4 Mk I BSA 1944 model with not many matching #s but it's a good shooter.
Don't mean to be telling you something you already know but if it's your first Enfield. I've found they balance well for offhand shooting or any other kind and the No. 4's sight plane's long enough for old eyes. The best factory ammo I've found so far is Privi Partizan with 174 gr. bullets. I've found it on sale for $13/$14 a box and the brass is good for reloading.
