Someone mentioned the other day that the 168 gr 308 bullet is not the go to bullet and I agree there are better bullets for long range but the 168 A-max just seems to be what my 308 bolt gun likes as this 200 yard group shows.

Thats not an AR....we all do those at 200 with bolt guns! And yes the 168 A-max shoots well out of most 308's. And 47 grains is a pretty stout load even with a long throated Remington barrel...and pretty slow for a 12 twist.

The 168 A-max is a great bullet, far and away superior to the Sierra offering of the same weight. It's no wonder you get good results.

Yesterday went to the range, loaded a 20 round mag., put my H-Bar on a sand bag and pulled the trigger as fast as I could center the bullseye in the scope at 100 yd's, Approx. 15 seconds.
Cheap 55gr FMJ, American Eagle ammo. Not the greatest, but it sure is fun.

Shot this at 100 yesterday. 6 shots in .798". This is from my 18" 308 Mega/Noveske. Going to stick with this load for a while!

My ARP 6.8 is a 1 MOA rifle even with a 1-4x Vortex scope. Thats with factory Hornady 110 BTHP or S&B 110 PTS. Don't have pics of that one yet and haven't done any hand loading to improve it. Will try to find a load with the 110 TTSX by deer season.

I even get sub MOA from a 20" chrome-lined non-freefloated FN government barrel using 77gr federal gold medal match.

Quality ARs are generally good shooters with little work.
