I bought a 270 once, really disliked it.
The only reason I didn't get rid of it was because I couldn't find a lake deep enough to be sure it would never be found.
However after putting on a Micky stock, Shilen trigger, having the action trued, and giving it a nice 22 inch Shilen #4 Stainless barrel I like it much better now.
Oh Yeah, it's now a 338-06.

Funny, there's some chamberings that I really want that I've never fired...
.222
.240 Weatherby
.250 Savage
.257 Roberts
.260
6.5x55
.264 WinMag
7x57
.280
.284
7x61 (granted, this one's out there in the weeds)
7mm SAUM (again, in the weeds)
7mm Weatherby
.340 Weatherby
.375 H&H
.375 Weatherby
Jeffery
.416 RemMag
.444 Marlin
I'll let somebody else figure out what is common. I fear I'm way too far gone to decide.

You and Holy Moses will smoke turds now.
Gun snobs. Seven by Fifty Seven or Sucks?
You guys would wander around for 40 years in a desert in robes and with William Devane's gold, lost.
Suck?
That hurts, you were raised better than that. grin

Havent you noticed on the 'fire here that opinions are inversely proportional to the amount of actual experience with the topic the poster has??? grin

Settled on the 7x57 after trying everything else, always maintained if somebody made super premium bullets for .22 centerfires that Id probably use nothing else...it seems that statement has come home to roost...havent even fired the 7x57 in five years...
last time to Africa all I took was a .22-250 and 53 gr TSXs...wasn't planning on much shooting, just some varmints and a little culling...shot a warthog with it....hes the one laying down, Im the one sitting up...just in case you were confused.... grin

Good stuff, thanks.
I'm almost with you cept I can't keep my 243ai out of my hands unless gophs are on tap.
If I would have drawn moose this year I would be choking up the bat, but it wasn't my time.
I still shoot my bigger ones but it's usually at metal.

Thanks for the laughs.
Some funny schit there.

222 remington
358 Norma
35 Newton
375 Ruger
on up from 375 bores
All the Weatherby Cartridges
Ultra Mags

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Nothing 204, nothing .17 (GFY in advance, flave), never a 7mmRM or WSM. Never fired an '06. No 7/08, and nothing .338 or over 375!

I have a .270 therfore have never needed a 7x57, a .243 or a 7mm-08. Haven't shot any of them or any .22 Centerfires, 'cause I already know they suck.

I have fired:

.270 WCF
30-06
30-30 Win
.308 Win
.22 LR
.22 Mag
.17 HMR
8x57(quite possibly the greatest round ever developed)
7mm Rem Mag
7mm WSM
8mm Gibbs
6.5mm Gibbs
30-40 Krag
.303 British
25-06

Think I might have left one or two off, not sure.

I have a Shaw Mk VII ordered in .300 Win Mag and a Winchester M70 Featherweight reserved in .257 Bob so I'll add them to the list soon enough.
