According to their web sight they have 289 sworn officers. Now divided into three shifts that would be 96 officers. But they have these sections that are not patrol officers:
Investigations
Special Operations Group (gang suppression, intelligence, vice, narcotics)
Evidence
Traffic
Training
And considering those that are in administration, on leave,Off days, on jail duty maybe and every thing else, How many officers are are typically deployed over that 154 square miles?

I mean, how many cops does Aurora have on patrol in the entire city on third shift? And normally spread all over the city in patrol areas. The city is 154 square miles and has a population of 325,000, and 25 officers were able to reach the theater in 60-90 seconds. Unheard of! Well now that's interesting. More government folly I wonder.

I hear they hired 158 new cops two days before the shooting. All of them but 3 had SSN prefixes from Virgina. The remaining 3 were allegedly from Iceland.
