Too easy. But I hope I don't ever have to make the decision. Marlin 39 .22, Remington 870 12 ga., Pre-64 model 70 .30-06. Ok, I like your choices except I'd opt for a Ruger 10-22 for the rimfire.....Let me expound on the others though: Left hand remington 870 (lets call this one my money maker), and the pre 64 model 70 30-06 would definately be my fwt instead of my std wt.....Thank god, we only have to make these decisions about once a month....
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

As a poor college student in Utah I got by quite nicely with just three. Ruger 10-22 and some cheapo 4X scope made for a centerfire. Remington left handed M700 BDL .30-06 with a long tube Leupold M8 4X Remington Model 1100 12 gauge, 28" modified Got to where I could hit ground squirrels at 125 yards (paced) with the 10-22, could shoot birds out of the air with the .30-06 (well, large birds )and that 1100 has been with me since I was 14 and is the only shotgun I still own. Beware the man with only three guns, he probably knows how to use them.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

i don't often feel compelled to play "what if" games, but i have a rem 581 .22 that i've had since 1970. an 870 12 ga, and a new haven winchester M70 fwt that was made up into a 25-06 for me...
there is no dangerous game on my table, but if there was i get pretty cocky with that M70 in my hands... have made some koolacious shots with it now...

I probabluy should elaborate. I tend toward the idea that one should beware the man with only half a dozen guns or less, an "arsenal" by some media accounts. Those are the ones who seem to be inclined to get nutty with their weapons. Perhaps the least crazy gun guys are the ones with "a few" more.
