Definately choose the one that fits you & you shoot the best. You couldn't go wrong with either caliber. I have several handguns in 45acp & 357sig. Which one I carry depends on what I'm doing.

I normally carry a 1911 Lightweight Commander in .45acp around town. When I'm at the Ranch, I prefer my Glock 32 in 357sig. It has a 4" barrel and holds 13 + 1
I find the recoil is about the same for both guns. The 357sig is much louder.

When shooting my 10" steel gong @ 100 yards at our range at the ranch, I have to hold over about 6" with my 45acp to hit it. With the Glock 357sig, I can aim dead on & hit the gong nearly every time if I concentrate on sight picture & trigger pull.
So I figure if I have to shoot a feral hog or coyote at the ranch, & don't have a rifle handy, the .357sig gives me a little edge on long range shot for varmints.

And if I fall off a horse or crash my 4wheeler, or run over my Glock with the tractor, I haven't ruined a $1500.00 1911. Glocks are Ugly. There working guns...

I have killed several feral hogs with both my Glock .357sig & 1911 in 45acp. The end results are about the same. The 357sig Definately has more Penatration.

I use the same Speer GoldDot 357sig ammo that Texas State Troopers use in my Glock.
In my 1911/ 45's, I prefer Speer Gold Dot 200gr JHP or Hornady 230gr XTP'S.
I save my reloads for target practice & hunting. Also, I don't consider ammo costs a concern on a gun I'm packing for personal protection.
Ammo is cheap. Life is Not.

If your shooting through barriers then the 357 sig if not then the 45 acp. I like more capacity but thats a personal preference. I have never heard anyone say in a gunfight they had too much ammo? Handguns being "weak" on stopping powers and other variables make ammo capacity an issue for me.

Whichever one you practice most with. Is ammo availability and cost an issue with the 239 357 SIG? If so why not just switch out the 239 barrel to 40SW? No problem finding that.

I like the 45acp because it is easier to reload and greater component availability. To me, they are both puny handgun rounds - neither is a magic death ray. If somebody else is providing the ammo then I'll use what they say and not give it another thought.

I like things that are simple and with a proven track record. The 45 acp is both of those in spades.

A Bowen built 5 shot Redhawk in .480 Ruger might be my ultimate Alaskan packin' pistol if my zip code was AK. With LBT bullets, of course.

Decided to stick with my 239 in 357. The extra 2 round was the deciding factor. WHo needs a P245? smile

Nice little compact thumper there Warpig, lookin at P220 mags with the conversion plate to use the 8 round mags in this little pistol.

8+1 45 ACP in a compact package would be sweet. wink

Yep, used to carry a 220 mag as a backup. You dont have to have the grip filler, its just to make it look pretty.
