Only a dozen deer but the average was 212yards. Couple hundred pigs average well under 50 yards.

I'd say the average distance with a rifle would be 200-250 yards. A handful under 100 yards. A handful over 300 yards and one over 400 yards. With a bow my average distance is 15 yards.

30 yards, I like still hunting and jump shooting them in the black timber. It's an acquired taste ...

35 yards as I have killed way more deer with archery equipment than Rifle.

Since 1966 I'm sure I haven't killed any big game over 300 yds. Most from 75 to 200yds., deer, elk, antelope, and 1 hapless mountain goat. Never found a reason to not get closer. Cheers

Three elk and about a dozen deer - all were taken at less than 125 yards in wooded areas. Almost makes me wonder why I needed anything other than a 30-30.

Wow, if this sampling is representative of most kills, anywhere from 3-300 yds is the bulk of shots.
Jayhawker, I suppose if the thutty thutty was no longer effective, they'd stopped making/selling them, no doubt they can STILL work as effective today as they did LONG ago.

Indeed, prob 80-90% under 200. I reckon even those who kill far, take much more of their game up close.

Most deer under a 100 yards, except one Mule deer in Wyoming at 168 yards. All of my antelope have been between 150 to 200 yards. I perfer closer than futher away.

Most of mine have been under 100 yards, with 40 being average. I've never tried a shot over 150 yards except at targets.
