He said folks get them for pets till they get huge then they go dump them in the swamp. Not sure if that's true, as we didn't see one of the dragons.

Dunno how that would go. Not aware of dragons in the wild here abouts but it wouldn't surprise. We got mambas and piranhas and a bunch of other nasty crap.

Yep, the green one. Fella down in Lauderdale a couple years back got tagged by one during a service call.

I've a friend who was a game warden for some years down in the southern tier of the 'Glades. One of his peers took an odd looking snake in for ID one day after killing it not too far from Immokalee. In house biologist said it was a Krait. It was carrying viable eggs. This was around the mid '70s, dunno what if anything developed from this.

Florida is the invasive species capital of the universe.

SLM,

I'm working on it,but the days are getting shorter with increased rapidity. Think I'm losing close to 13 minutes of light a day now and it snowed yesterday, froze a CH over night and the Northern Lights were sparklin' through the cloud cover. Seasons is changin'.(grin)

Was able to catch some wind flailing shards of velvet about and took notes for future reference that a cud chewing Carabouski ain't a bad Duck Decoy.

I'm at a big disadvantage, because I don't get to take Big Weekend Trips pounding pavement...so don't get to see or do much of the cool schit that The Do Nothing Gang gets to Outdoors.(grin)

BEST Thread ever!

'Cub,

I'll happily mail you a Ti stock and a camera,if only so you can document your [bleep] incredibly long list of excuses,as to why you never turn a [bleep] lick.

You really are amongst the ranks of the sorriest of the Do Nothing [bleep](DNP's).

Looking forward to the next batch of excuses.

Bless your heart.

DD,

Here in Kansas,we don't get any Marine Shellfish, though I've oft wondered if their tablefare rates all the hype. There's just sumptin' soothin' about rolling grasslands, barbed wire fences,Gubment subsidies and the satisfactions of speakin' Spanish. Perhaps some day I'll take a BWT to the Coast and partake in my first boat ride, though I'm somewhat concerned about gettin' seasick and am a touch apprehensive 'bout leaving terra firma.

There's just so much more to do inland,as Jeff-O,Shefire,MagnumDoosh,'squeeze,'Cub and The Gang so eloquently quantify.

A guy can really learn a lot from them guys, who are out there pushing the gear envelope and connecting dots with regularity in varying terrain and conditions. That experience and the results commensurate, are what makes a Site like this such a valuable learning tool.

That is a salty from the Territory and lizards do not get any bigger than them.

Biggest I believe was 30+ feet.

That's a big ass lizard, I don't care who or where you are. Yikes.

Not far from my house is a little waterway called Bennett Creek. Shallow, twisty little time machine where man never left a mark. Was putting along one morning awhile back in a 13' aluminum vee-bow w/6hp Johnson (my other boat has bigger Johnsons). Came around a tight bend and lo(!) a 14' lizard was layin' on the bank about 10' from me. Big fat one, probably weighed close to a ton I'm guessin'. I was decidedly uncomfortable, all things considered. Did my best imitation of "not hog", whistled in the dark and all that...

Big Mamma and her peers make a livin' eatin' hogs than graze the shore line for Gawd knows what. Kinda like the pic of the salty above. Nature's balance...

They are not picky, usually content to consume people too....there is always some tool that doesn't heed the signs.

Pretty hard to miss!!!
