Umm, you really do go for the jugular don't you...for a barrel and maybe a stock...really!
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

I think the next question would be what is your budget for this project. That way an intelligent answer can be given as to whom should do the work. As a starter, you might consider IT&D for your barrel work if you are not planning on a major (expensive) custom job. They can put a Douglas barrel of suitable caliber on your Mauser for a reasonable price and that you will be happy with. http://www.itdcustomgun.com/

My dad had Ed Lapour work on his Mauser and yeah it wasn't cheap but the work is impeccable. Another buddy had Ed work over his Mauser and screw on a Douglas barrel and bed in a Fajen stock. I don't recall the total bill but it wasn't gross.
Most of my work is done by Mike Polazzo. I've never had him work on a Mauser as I don't own one but know lots who do and all are happy. His waits are reasonable, prices in line with most and quality is superb.

Having Ed Lapour screw on a barrel and whack on a stock is akin to having Michelangelo slap a coat of paint on your bathroom.
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

So what you are saying is Ed Lapour is TOO good to do the job, I don't think so.
I do quite a bit of work on Mausers, send me an email. I even get referrals from Redneck once in a while.

Hardly, that work is bread and butter for a gunsmith...I am saying that if you are going to engage someone like Ed Lapour you may as well go the whole hog. Otherwise get someone close that can do the work.

Jim Kobe is very hard to beat. He is prompt, reasonable, and will converse with you. No surprises. As you can see, it shoots.

I can recommend having Buckhorn Gun and Pawn in Boise Idaho build you a Mauser auctioned hunting rifle. They've done good work for me and their pricing is reasonable for good quality work.

Show me da Mowza. I'd like to see some of his work too. Proof is in the pics.

Are there any updates on good Mauser gunsmiths???!
I’m thinking of buying an action and stock that I like and having a gunsmith build me my mauser!
