Good looking equipment, nothing like being in the woods with simple but effective weapons. Good luck this season.

Sweet!

I only made one thing dead with my long bow and that was pure luck... I will stick with my training wheels until I have a nice longbow I can call my own.

Was guessing MA2 heads.

Nice setup. Wished my shoulder/neck would heal enough so that I could start with my Brackenbury again by next year...

Best of luck!

Sweet! I had a Chastain Spike TD that was stolen during a military move and I still miss it. The smoothest-shooting TD bow I ever used.

you will enjoy hunting with the Longbow , i love hunting with mine. Nice setup , how are you shooting with it and are you going to use it on the Hog Hunt this year?

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Missed a doe this am at 15yds ...I drew as she hit an opening and as I released she stoped and turned arrow flew right infront of her perfect elevation... I have not missed a deer with a bow in many years this traditional stuff is humbling

I would miss by a lot more than that.

Better luck with putting a wood arrow into something brown next time.

BTDT too.

But there's nothing like drilling an animal with trad gear.

It aint easy, that's the whole point.

I won't even start hunting deer until about the 28th. That's when it gets good in MN. I did manage to drill a decent antelope buck in Wyoming a few weeks ago...so life is good.

Antelope meat is good. Better than deer, no contest.

I would love ta get set-up, practice religiously and be able to arrow a Turkey before deer archery season is over on 1-31-13, may be a pretty tall order/goal.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Bea, I need to talk to Ed much more when he/i has/have the time to get proper specs on a Longbow, I have a 31" draw, dont know squat how that plays out in poundage etc with a Longbow.

And sorry for gabbing in your thread Dan. smile

Gunner, I don't your physical type so I'll give you a quick thought.

Decide traditional bow or hybrid.
Start ~40lbs.

You will probably find your draw shortening with a long bow or a recurve. Years ago when I shot long compounds with fingers, I drew at least 30.5" Now with a recurve or long bow I draw just over 29".

Most bows nowadays are very smooth up to 28", then they start to "stack" as drawn farther.

I cant my bows about 10 degrees and flex my legs slightly, thus when i get bow arm, head and draw arm in proper alignment, my draw is naturally shorter.

You really need to test draw a few bows to see what your requirements are going to be.

If you did still have a +30" draw with a long bow you would need a bow rated for longer draws and at around 37 to 40 lbs. @28".

Hope you have good luck finding the proper setup for you.
