I believe the Mossberg's were USA made. My recollection is that they were/are not highly prized as they were not as well made. However my recollection has proven suspect as goggle has shown that the semi's were manufactured by KTG, Nikko, Howa, Mossberg and Bereta, and NOT Miroku.

I'm assuming that yours is a 17HMR? I didn't know they were offered in the XXII. Learn something new everyday.

For those interested there is a Savage/Anschutz 64 (not sure the exact model) in the store I purchased the Krico. It is:

Northeast Firearms
Honesdale, Pa.
570-253-4735

I didn't handle it but it looked mint and of the same style as the above pictured Weatherby....not the PlainJane variety 64 that I usually see. Think the asking price was $749.00

Nothing especially rare or unusual about the "Weatherby" bolt XXII. It's an Anschutz 64 action in a Weatherby style stock.

To my taste the huge cheekpiece, Monte Carlo, light angled tip and white spacers look is about as dated as tailfins and poodle skirts, but to each his own.

Since the mechanical parts are Anschutz, accuracy should be excellent. My 64 sporter certainly is.

How are the triggers on the Mark XII's? I have an Anschutz with about a 3/4 ounce 2-stage trigger. Since its acquisition I have become completely intolerant of poor triggers.

It's a fine trigger ... For a sporter trigger

Single stage, 2-4 pounds, creep free. Mine only goes to 2.4 pounds.

I tuned mine to 2 pounds even. With a spring change they will go lighter.

Is this the gun with the cheesy plastic bolt knob??? Never understood why they'd put something like that on an otherwise nice rifle.

No not rare, I had two and both shot pretty accurate but like every Anschutz 64 action I've ever owned neither would eject a spent case clear of the ejection port every time, about one out of three would just pop straight up hit the bottom of my scope and I would more times than not have to dig the spent case out before I fed the next round in, it was a real pain in the AZZ!...............Hb

There is a qwik fix ... Still isn't robust like a 77/22, but 10x better than factory with my rifle

I currently own a Ruger 77/22 that is one of the top three most accurate rimfire rifle's I have ever owned and that has been many of the finest production rimfire's that money can buy, I will say that I have owned probly 5 of these 77/22's since their intoduction back in the 80's and none of the others would shoot with this particular rifle, I think I just got lucky here, but all of the past rifles functioned beautifully and were bullet proof work horse rifle's like all Ruger rifle's seem to be...................Hb

Avagadro , the Semi-auto XXII was marked made in USA or maybe it was Southgate California ....can't exactly remember . I know because I watched one in a Retail Store for over a year . I looked it over very carefully many times , and commented to the Salesman that I had never seen one marked USA . I did'nt know that they were made by Mossberg as indicated in previous Posts . Anyway , this one looked as well made as the Italians and Japanese variety . One of the Magazines had an Article on the USA made Weatherby XXIIs...only a few hundred were made per this Article . I ran down to the Store , and it was gone !
