Thinking about getting a Lightweight 22-250. Mostly for deer hunting and wanting some input as to weight ,accuracy and price of different rifles. Thanks Craig
I have a Tikka T3 Superlite that I love. Very light and easy to carry and extremely accurate. As for deer, the 1-14 twist barrel is more designed for lighter bullets. It didn't like the 60gr NPT I tried in it. Got some 53gr TSX I haven't tried yet. It is very accurate with 55gr sierras so I'm hoping the 53 grainers will work.
Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.
Not sure the exact weight of my Superlite but it is the fluted barrel model. I have a Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40 up top and it is by far my lightest centerfire rig. I think this model was advertised as being 5 1/4 lbs.

bcraig-I'd be looking T3, Varget and a 53 TSX or a 63 Sierra and or a 64 W-W. It'll shoot lights out and be more than adequate for the work you're talking about. That's what I run and I have a 6x36 w/dotz on it and I'm set to 500 for deer and for me that's a great plenty.
Best of luck to ya!

Well I have looked at several of these rifles online. The Savage Liteweight ,I dont like the looks of the lightening cuts. The Remington LVSF looks good but in my mind is more of a standard weight than a Lightweight(I am thinking 6 pounds or so for a rifle weight) This leaves the Tikka Superlight T3,I have heard good things about the accuracy of these rifles,I have also heard that the action is smooth and trigger decent. On the downside the Magazines are expensive and that 1 in 14 twist. I only reload for an old 8mm Mauser guild rifle and only for that as I cant find a factory load with a 150 at around 2700fps. Everything else I shoot factory loads in .So I would be looking at shooting either the Barnes Vortex factory load with 55 grain bullet ,Corbon with 53 grain barnes Bullet,Federal premium with 60 Grain partition or the Federal or Winchester with the 64 grain bullet. What is the concensus on this rifle shooting these loads accurately enough for 300 yard shots?(I am thinking that 1-1/2 at hundred would be accurate enough.)Course I would want half that size !LOL Craig
Craig-about the 14 twist, personally I'd not let it bother me one bit. What ranges are you gonna be shooting deer at and what bullet and or bullets do you wish to use?
I've found the 14's to shoot 63 Sierra, 55 Horn w/c, 60 Horn sp and hp, 64 W-W, 53 tsx, 55 R-P's and a few more. Any of those will be more than enough for most all uses on deer/lopes and black bruins.
Just saw your factory ammo comment. The 14 will work with the R-P 55 sp load, the Federal Classic 55 sp load and the 64 and 55 W-W load. Not sure what else one would want?
The T3 22/250's that I've been around will generally shoot most all of these slugs into .75" or less @ 100 which of course will be more than enough for what you're looking for.
Now the 60 Noz has a challengin bugger in most all rigs I've ever shot it in. But, it's pretty much always done 1.5" or less. Tough to get it sub 1" however.
But the T3, you're gonna love it!

Sounds like the T3 might be the way to go. Mark have you tried on of the Superlights ? Any differences between it and the regular T3 Lights ?(other than the weights )Preference between the two ? Craig
Not many of them on the market, but keep your eyes out for a Mountain Guide that Remington put out for Cabelas. They only are available in blued finish, vs the same rifle (different calibers) they offered to Gander Mountain in SS.
Delgue that is a thought but I already have a CZ 527 Carbine 223 that with a 2.5 Leupold and Federal premiums 60 grain partitions will put three into less than 1-1/2 inch at 150 yards and is less than 7 pounds all up with Liteweight sling ,aluminum rings 4x Leupold and ammo. Tatelaw sent you a PM Craig
