So I walk into a local toy store I frequent and was looking at a Blackhawk 41 cal. I was chattin with the counter guy and he asked me if I wanted to see a couple nice revolvers. I thought to myself, self....that's a silly question. I said sure but it's probably out of my budget today.

He comes back out talking about some guy named Ed McGivern and that these were a pair of his colts. They were shipped from the factory in 1919. They had been purchased at auction for 56,ooo smackeroos and I got to handle them. They sure were sweet...

They were sold at auction to clear up some estate expenses of Cowboy Movie Actor Lash Larue.

I felt honored to hold them and may even have a chance to make an offer on them.

Big question...what are they really worth??

Methinks that is a question that only you can answer as they may be worth a lot more or a lot less to you than somebody else. As shooters, not much. As collector items, could be a bunch.

Tough question.

WOW! A pair of Ed's revolvers that were also later owned by Lash? I can't guess the value, but I'd love to own them. Heck, I'd love to own 'em even w/o their provenance.

Truthfully I would be tickled to have the ivory grips.

When I was handling them I thought how great they would look in SteveNo's man cave.

Actually, maybe some retirement funds to invest, a price was suggested by the store that may be a good one.

Had to leave the store to catch my breath and get my wits back.

Darn shiny object syndrome.

PM me for details. I posted this in hopes they would land here at the 'fire.

They have Colt letters and auction records and even a first edition Ed McGivern book.

Lash LaRue appeared at the Birmingham Gun show several years back selling memorabilia/photos. I wondered then if he had fallen on hard times.

I just 'Googled' Lash and he did, indeed, fall on hard times. He died in 1996.......I had no idea it had been that long ago that I saw him. Time really does fly.
