Nine-year-old Nate grassed his first big-game animal ever in Middle Tennessee in front of me, his Dad Jason, his cousin Hunter and friends Scott and Michelle. He had to come to Tennessee, where he has a Lifetime Sportsman's License, to do this because his home state, Colorado, thinks kids need to be 12 to hunt big game. Nate took the large-bodied 6-pointer with a single shot at a lasered 163 yards at about 1730 hours. He used a Winchester M70 Ranger pushfeed .243 I'd cut down the LOP to 11.5-in. then did a Jolly Roger flipflop pad, plopped on a Japanese Tasco 4X on it I've had for a dozen years. He used 'nilla Federal Powershok 100 grain load. Way to go!! Nice job young fella! I like the idea of lifetime licenses for kids. I think that makes a great Christmas or birthday gift. I wish Kentucky would do something along those lines, but I doubt it will ever happen.

Great take for a first deer. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to go afield with me. They are 4 and 3, so they'll have to wait a while longer.

But your likely correct, it will never happen.
