I've read that there's a small feral herd of them in MT and the fish & game had declared them to be non-native (for some strange reason).


it has to do with how Montana labels critters with in its borders and legal connotations that goes with each classification.....and the process behind it is part of the reason ive got such a piss poor opinion of MTFWP....by labeling them "non-native" they were no longer classified as livestock belonging to the land owner/lease holder....and in the case of it being say a livestock grazing lease holder of state or federal land it opens them up to hunting by anyone instead of FWP having to kill them themselves...
