Tom, maybe you already use one, but I made myself a simple x-chest harness out of some 1" webbing and I tied some 3/8" rope to it with a carabiner. It fits in a coat pocket. I use it to drag deer out of hells like that alder mess you had to deal with. Works pretty well, esp, if you keep the rope pretty short. You could hook it to your sled too. I have a snow sled that I use in the winter sometimes.

It will be a priority, I have a really good cooker ready for those ribs you are bringing, and a new rub too.

Might even be some chili fixins we can goof with.

No, I haven't used one, but it's a good idea.
I used to have a strap and a rope attached to it.

Dave, after last night, I don't think you should be allowed near anything that could choke. Your wife should probably take away your belt for 6 months or so... smile

I think Tom has your wolf all patterned for you.

Did you throw the rack away already? whistle

no, not yet

He was taken with a Win M 70 SA .308 using a 180 gr. Nosler Partition. Shot was a measured 151 yards. Went through the lungs and exited. Bullet not recovered.

That's the sort of tone that lifts a guy up a little.

Yeah, second weekend is good.

Nice buck Tom! I can smell the woods in the picture, I sure miss that country.

I made it out tonight with my archery gear one last time before I go with a rifle this weekwnd with my dad for opener. was in the stand about an hour when I was made by a small fork horn when I was answering a text from daycare about a crabby baby I have. 5 minutes later I had about 4 or 5 does come charging in and they stopped and started milling around my stand. pertty soon I heard the uuuuurrrrppp of a buck on their trail. he came in at a dead run and hit a scent line I put out of some golden estrus. 20 yards and I zipped him through the back and out the brisket. lost blood at 200 yards looked like a single lung hit. flash light died, going back in the morning. I could smell bloody deer when my light died so I know he was right there, hopin the coyotes don't get him. he's a nice 4 point, biggest deer I've taken to date once I find him.for now just playing with the baby and enjoying a shock top. might be a restless night for me til I can get my tag on this guy. I'll text out a pic when I find him.

Thanks. That was a first with that cartridge. Bullet didn't expand much, if at all but deer is dead.

The gun is really sweet. M70 fwt, xtr push feed (wood), Leupold VX-1 2-7x33.

We've always done better on the second weekend than the first. This time the second weekend happens to fall on the few days I love to be in the woods. Good stuff seems to happen on the second week of Nov. Sure seems the season started early this year, lets take advantage of the deers runnin this weekend.
