Rory....sounds like you got a handle on this deal....your boy will have to be diligent....that's all.
Push on through man....you need to be strong for the kid and wife. Stuff happens like the stand dumping over....that can be fixed.
As far as some of the other comments regarding the election, really, not the end of the world....we will get through it. Life puts that [bleep] in perspective.

"Just let the world end now" I forgot to remind you, we only have a few more days anyhow, so don't sweat it, go hunting. December something wasn't it?

Rory, I just re read my post and it sounded pretty harsh and unkind. Please forgive me for that one.
I am SO very sorry about your kid getting diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes! That IS a kick in the gut. That really does suck big time. I have two first cousins who have that and so far they have lived VERY happy and normal lives, healthy, in to thier 50's.
I hope and pray this and more for your son.

My sister was diagnosed type 1 when she was 17, she's 47 now and doing OK. She's been on an insulin pump for a long time. I've been type 2 for about 6 months now. It does take management and paying attention but it can be controlled.
Get him and you into a diabetic teaching class, I found it helpful to learn why diabetes is about more than just the blood sugar levels.
Good luck hunting,
Dale

Rory, Our youngest was diagnosed at age sixteen, five years ago. It was tough then and still can be. It does get a little easier to deal with as you learn about it.
Call me any time you want. I have some beverages here in camp just thirty miles south. Stop by any time.

Been that kind of week for me too! Sandy snapped the utility pole in front of my house in half, ripping my electric off the side of the house. Was without power for 7 days, and when they replaced the pole they cut my cable and internet and left them coiled on the ground, no TV or Internet for a week. Luckily I had a generator I bought last year and was at least able to save everything in my freezer. I think of them poor souls in NJ and NY and think "ya know, this ain't THAT bad..."
Hope all gets better for you.
