As usual I will be frying my families Turkey again this Thanksgiving. My question is when does peanut oil go bad? I drained and filtered the oil from last year and its still sitting in my cabinets. It's only been used that one time, and from what I can see it can be used several times before you need to get new oil, but its been a year. So is it still good?

taste and smell it. If no indications of it being rancid it will be fine.

I freeze the used oil.Last years oil will most likely have a funky after taste.

READ THE DIRECTIONS!!! Most importantly, pre-test the volume on the turkey you are going to with water first to make sure the displacement doesn't kick oil over the edge and really fire you up! Other than that, have a great time!

Holy cow, $50 for peanut oil this year! Went with veggie oil at half the price. I've fried maybe 40 or 50 birds now and if not reusing oil or doing 3 back to back, seems like veggie oil works fine. Be safe and in the event of fire, don't use water:)
