Adding to the store of empirical knowledge, .41 Magnum rounds shot out of a .44 Magnum will only split the cases about 3/4 of their length.

Accuracy, however, is not good enough to hit a log at 15 feet. Which, after the third miss, is what made me finally check to see what was in the chambers.

I have a .25-308, and I make it a point to NEVER use necked-up .243 Win brass. Instead, I always use necked-DOWN 7-08. Just in case somebody finds one of my handloads and believes the headstamp...

A few BR shooters load their 220 Russian with 224 bullets when fireforming their 6mmPPC. They do it in their old 6ppc barrel or 6ppc fireforming barrels.
I just use a case full of Bullseye and a wax plug. I do fireform my 30BR brass in a 6mm barrel. I drill the bore for about 4" with a .302 drill and chamber with my 30BR reamer. I do not do my fireform with a bullet.

I've heard of people using it in a pinch when WBY ammo was not avalable. Just blows out the case with a short neck. Kinda like the 7RM cases I found.

Out of a 30-06 - 308's shoot low, and are unreloadable.

I discovered that the accuracy of a 270 Win in a 270Wby wasn't very good either. Made a funny noise and was hard to eject also.

On another site someone was asking about where to get 35 Whelen brass. Somebody else told him just to fire loaded .30-06 ammo in his Whelen. He said that's what he does to make brass.............. eek

Found a half a box's worth of .25-06 brass at the range that had been fired in a .30-06. Would have been interesting to know how the guy got through half a box before realising something was amiss!

Blong - you discovered a trade secret. When selling a 308 load up a 243 round and tell the buyer it is the softest kicking 308 he will ever shoot. Here - give it a try..! laugh

I noticed a .338 Win Mag in the shell belt of a guy who shoots a .300 H&H one time.

Probably saved the guy's face and maybe his life. If he would have been in a hurry to reload while shooting at game, I doubt he would have noticed the .338, and I'm pretty sure it would have chambered.

I saw a guy stick a 30/06 shell in a 300 winmag/ Brand new
BAR and fire it. Blew the trigger mechanism out the bottom,
it was hanging from his finger, which was still there. I would
have bet it wouldn,t fire but it did. He was very lucky and
wasn,t hurt.

I knew a person who shot .45 Colts in a .410 shotgun.

I didn't see this, and I don't even know if the shell would chamber, but a long time ago, a person told me he shot .410 shotgun shells in a 7.7 Jap.

Popped a 270 in a 7mag. Once. Gas and brass particles in many places where it shouldn't be. Ole 110 never missed a step, however.
