Bag- I know you are trying to research and find out all the info you can but imo your splitting hairs now. Barrel life isn't going to be that big of a factor and if it is a rebarrel is cheap enough.
If you are dead set on a gunwerks rifle then I would go 7lrm.

It's all fun and games till you have to pay for the brass. Costs as much as an airplane... And they stopped producing it in WWII. Good ole super fortress, never lost a deer with that... smirk

Hold on a minute here BAB. You're wanting to drop 5k on a Gunwerks rifle... but you're concerned about the cost of brass? I'm not getting it.

I would also suggest a Montucky 7mm Whizzum. Should be the cats meow on SE Alaskan Sitkas.....

I found a wizard and asked him if he can remove a curse I had been living with for the last 20 years. The Wizard says, "What were the exact words that were used to put the curse on you." I say without hesitation, "I now pronounce you man and wife."

B-29 has better barrel life and the brass is 10 cents cheaper per bag.

BagABuck,

I don't know your depth of experience or exactly what you want to use the rifle for... Hunting, it sounds like. What will you hunt and how far do you expect to shoot?

I honestly feel that a "well thought out" .260 or 7-08 would be a really great place to start - then put the most "serious glass" you can afford on top and shoot it till it pukes!

All of the rounds you've inquired about will toss a bullet to 1K.

With the lighter rounds, you'll shoot better, more often and will hit better. You'll also have more fun! IMO

Brass will be cheap and readily available. Less powder means more shooting = win, win.

You can dial and dope them both. I'd be more worried about being able to read the wind. The rest is a skullphuck.....

Buy a 7mm Rem. Mag. set up for long range, better selection of bullets over .277(not that it [bleep]' matters, plenty of good .270 bullets), ammo, dies, and brass is available everywhere, it'll shoot farther than you can hit anything accurately. Although, so could the .270 Win., same deal as the 7 mag., if neither of those have a flat enough trajectory for you, get a custom made 40" barreled rifle chambered for a .277/50 BMG wildcat, if that isn't enough, buy a high powered laser, this thread is [bleep]' gay. whistle grin
