After a long conversation with an Investigator of the Bastrop Sheriff's Department this morning I was told that there is NOTHING that they can do in this matter and I would have to contact an attorney and file a Civil Lawsuit... Sad indeed...
When I had a similar situation occur on a rifle shipment from Alabama, the Deer Park Police Department was ready to jump on it with both feet. They encouraged me toward resolution. The situation righted itself but they were cocked and ready to go to bat for me. I think whomever you talked to was just unwilling to put any effort into it.

for a $1500.00 scope it might beworth sitting a day in jail to teach this guy a leason, no DA or judge would go on with this case after getting the facts and if they do trial be jury, no way 12 people would find you guilty

I was taken for a pair of Leupold binos last year , contacted his local PD they told me to go to my local Sherrifs dept , they dealt with him . Had my money back within 2 weeks.

Maybe we could organize an informal Campfire get-together somewhere near Bastrop, TX. Do a little long range shooting, some pig hunting, and throw in a lynching between activities.
Just about got scammed by this douchebag last April when he was using Longrangehunter80. Ironically, he was also trying to trade me a NF for a shotgun that I had. I got cold feet when he started getting flakey and none of his pictures that he sent had the same background. Here's the info he gave me at the time:

Gentlemen/Ladies:
I am equally outraged by the situation that EHG finds himself in. If one were to be imprisoned with members from this forum, a short visit to jail would be a small price to pay for a "satisfying" resolution to this saga. However, the type of people one might meet while paying his "debt to society" makes this kind of solution a life altering experience. Hopefully, a legal solution can be found.
On another note, this situation effects me personally. As a new member, with most, if not all, of my posts in the classified section, how will anyone ever trust me with this type of thing going on. I don't want to post without something meaningful to say on the other parts of this forum just to get my post count up. So I will do eveything I can to make anyone I deal with as comfortable as possible. The fact that this exposes me to more risk is part of being able to enjoy this wonderful resource. I have done 1 deal on this forum and 2 on 6br/accurate shooter. All three have been very pleasant and honest deals. I have negotiated on other deals that didn't happen and have never had bad feelings expressed. I don't think I would be comfortable making on-line deals with any other group of people (cars, music, golf, etc.), but scammers like this make it harder for me to connect with "my" people.
