Been looking for one to replace the one I gave to my boy.

I was looking hard at the S&W 22A 2-tone. Any input on this one?

Its a good pistol, shoots well, reliable and accurate. I had one for several years, just refused to work perfectly. If thats the one you like, then go for it.

I have the Walther P-22 and shoot it a lot. The 22A I had was a good shooter, the only reason I changed was I wanted something smaller that I could put a suppressor on.

You pay the $200.00 ATF tax for that?

For the money a Ruger 22/45 is hard to beat. I picked one up from Karnis and it is a damn good shooter.

Just bought a Ruger SR22 for my girlfriend for Christmas......I myself carry and use a Colt Woodsman with a 4" barrel. You can find them used on the market....great, accurate little guns!

I like my 22/45 MII. It works just like my .45, is tin can accurate in my hand (better than that in the hands of a better shot), and I'll never live long enough to wear it out. I got the bull barrel "Target" version, because I like a nose-heavy pistol or rifle. My gunsmith tried to sell me one of those aluminum upper conversion jobs, and it would be easier to carry, but a lot harder to shoot accurately.

Woodsmans are great little pistols and adds a good deal of class. But theyre not cheap, and theyre typically a little finickier about the ammo you feed them than most new pistols. But once you find its favorite, you cant beat them.

I like the 22/45 heavy barrel. Pretty cost effective and man it shoots....

You might want to consider a High Standard Victor or a HS Sport King (fixed sight camp gun), with either the 6.75 or 4.5 inch barrel. Reasonably priced, and both are darned accurate.

The older semi-auto 22's are great, and they're well worth having for both their fit and finish and accuracy. However, the Achilles heel for most of them is magazine availability. Just one thing to keep in mind when recommending the older guns to newer shooters who may, or may not, be willing to hunt down hard to find magazines.

For someone just looking for a fun 22 auto, the Ruger's MKII's and MKIII's are very hard to beat.

My brother had one, but it always seemed to have a couple of functioning problems with every box of ammo. He sold it and bought a Browning Buckmark that he is completely satisfied with.

I have both the S&W 22-A and a 22/45 lite. The 22/45 gets shot at leats weekly, the 22-A hasnt been out of the safe in awhile.
I'm waiting on a tax stamp, thats why I bought the 22/45 lite with the treaded barrel.
My 22-A dose shoot the bulk cci blasers well, everything I've fed the 22/45 gose bang but nothing that comes out of a 525 count box groups real well.

My 22/45 top left.

No Fotis, not for concealed carry! grin I carry it for woods bumming sometimes. Often carried it for squirrel hunting also....

My Woodsman has never shown any tendencies to dislike any of the brands of ammunition I've fed it. Mainly shoot Federal bulk......has always went "bang". Far more accurate than I am!
