Not long after one of mine developed the same symptoms I got terribly bored with it and put it away for over 10 years.

[Linked Image]

Then one day I got bored with another one that I used on pigs. This progression of targets illustrates well the ol' saw about seasoning a .22 RF barrel after it's been thoroughly cleaned. Clean 'em for storage, not for killin' stuff.

[Linked Image]

So I pulled out the first one and...

[Linked Image]

Hopin' to the Heavens my 700 .250 Savage don't get congested, but it ain't looking good, especially with the 100 gr Partitions.

I may start buying pawn shop guns just to stave off the boredom.

Heavy....did the varmint setup ever have sights? This particular heavy has filler screws where sights should go, but it confuses me as to if this heavy barreled version ever did.

Bought that one from a co-worker who couldn't hit chitt with it, paid $100.00. Changed out the trigger and did a full length bed job on it and it rocks. Boring guns are good for boars. laugh

I'm sort of in Mule Deer's camp on the WW Power Points and this gun obviously agrees. Somewhere in the archives is a group of 3 in somewhere around 1/2" @ 100 yards. Don't use the PP on hogs because of that gaping crater they call a HP but it shoots the CCI SV nearly as well....Wolf MT next.

The groups from the .250 Savage are a giggle. First group was shot with 85 BT's the second with 100 Partitions. First and second group I fired with the gun after it was rebarreled. How weird is that? Guess I passed "Bore Sighting 101"? Little load work down the road I shot some as well, but not any better than the second. All of 'em are minute of light the grill.
